Gréve de Lecq looking a bit rough today. The best family beach in Jersey in my opinion. Enclosed and well served with facilities but also has rocks to climb, waves to jump and the river that carved a different path through the beach every day. Grève De Lecq woods. I’ve never been here before and access isn’t obvious as the path is behind the pub (which is handy for a swift half after a walk!). There were lots of different paths and places to explore. This time of year is wonderful as all of a sudden the trees have burst into leaf and everything is green. There were lots of beech trees in the wood looking spectacular. The stream (known as a ‘douet’) delineates the parish border so at times we were in St Ouen and others in St Mary. I love forest bathing for clearing your head. Really excited that I know how to get here now as one thing I miss about mainland Britain is woodland walks. Grève De Lecq looking gorgeous in the hazy sunshine yesterday. The last few months I’ve been dating a local Jerseyman and I’ve visited more new places than I have since I arrived on the island. Yesterday he took me to Le Câtel De Lecq, a kind of humpy hill that is actually the site of an old iron age fort. The view was spectacular.
