When Renard opened his eyes, it took him a few seconds to adjust after the brilliance of the portal. But he quickly found that they were standing in a small alleyway. He looked over at Lacorne, but she was already de-transforming so that she could feed Fluff and Kaalki. So he walked to the edge of the alley and peeked out to see what the street looked like.
Pretty much the same as their Paris, he discovered. Nothing seemed different to the naked eye. He stood there watching the quiet street until Lacorne, freshly transformed, came up behind him and put a hand on his shoulder.
“I tried to bring us back as close as I could to the moment when I left. So Griffe and Chloé should still be in the park,” she said. “I don’t know how to contact them otherwise, so we should go.”
