Considering that we just recently had a demo drop for Grime 2, I thought it would be fitting to share an old drawing I did that was basically me going "what if Akhlan, but female shaped"

Waneblood armor + Bloodmetal Scythe for my current NG+ build for GRIME (currently on my 6th NG+ lol)
And a Shidra sketch while I try to figure out how to draw them.
So
Which one is better?
Grime 1
Grime 2
Both of them
None of them
Not sure
Formless One from Grime 2
ok I take the "whispering mothers" take back, THIS is the best lesbian representation in any media ever.
(Technically all beings in GRIME have no gender or sex, but those who are referred to by pronouns other than they/them are referred to by she/her.)
(Originally this post was tagged with [#interrarial dating] but it turns out Yrs and Urs can just choose which they want to be.)
Is Grime II a Soup or a Salad?
Soup
Salad
Shidra's entire deal with you is a gamble. They know they can't fight you, can't fight the thing that consumes everything it touches, so they turn to diplomacy. They allow you passage, trade with you, strengthen you even, in exchange for you fetching them the materials for the device designed to kill you. Do you know what their angle is from the start? The creatures of this world instinctively want to live - they, the pillar and protector of the world, are no different. They are fundamentally opposed to your nature. What do you want from them? Are you blindly following instructions? Do you help them because you see no other way, because they offer an easy solution? Do you want to arm them like they're arming you?
Do you want a challenge, or do you want death?
They meet you at the top of the worldpillar with the trap you created for yourself. They know your nature is to destroy, but they've sent you out there, they made you see the world they're trying to protect. Dead, given life only by accident. Yet undeniably alive. Did your heart stir? Seeing the collapse of societies, of survivors mourning those they lost to your appetite. Are you capable of feeling anything at all?
Maybe you are. Maybe, in the hours and days you've spent running around the dead body of the parent, you've recognized parts of yourself in the tenacity of those you killed. Maybe you realized the destruction your presence brought wasn't meant to be any more than the breath giving life to everyone in the first place. Their existence was a mistake and their world is dying, but does that mean that they don't deserve to live? Their deaths don't need to come now. Not by your hand.
So maybe you stop. Maybe shidra's pleas touched whatever conscience you have buried in that black hole you have for a head. Maybe the breath in your body means more to you than the instinct to consume. You are shidra's kin, too. You can overcome your nature. You can let go. Let them separate the breath of the parent from the spiral heart. Let them guide you into death.
Your body lives on, the firstborn of levolam, but the black hole extinguishes. You, akhlan, die. Your life for everyone else's.
You no longer have to fight against your nature.
But maybe all of that means nothing to you. Maybe you simply wish to reunite with your kin, calling for you from the peak of creation, and you will damn anyone who gets in your way. Maybe you enjoy the hunt, mowing down everything in your path while you only get stronger. Maybe you do like the challenge of walking into a trap set specifically for you, knowing its architect will fall by your hand, too.
Shidra begs, pleads with you to reconsider. You don't have to do this. You can be more than your nature, more than just destruction. But, for whichever reason it ends up being, you break yourself out of the trap. Unscathed.
And shidra has tried everything. They know they can't fight you, they know they won't win. But they will fight you. For every moment of life their struggle brings to everyone else.
They use everything they have against you. Their creations, their raw strength and size, the arena itself. It's not enough. They collapse the worldpillar on top of you. It's not enough. Mortally wounded and blinded, they resort to blindly flailing, hoping to crush you. But, of course, it's not enough. You beat them. You take their arms from them. Broken and defeated, they have one last one-sided conversation with you.
And what do they do? They thank you. Thank you for allowing everyone to live for as long as they did, no matter how briefly. For allowing them to live, longer than most.
They did everything they could. No force in this would could possibly stand against you. They bought everyone as much time as they possibly could. And maybe, just maybe, like the coda always believed...
Maybe it was enough for this world to live on in your memory.
GRIME II releases today on Steam.
