Grindeldore pirate AU
Albus’ life was simple, if a little uneventful. He earned a living by tutoring the children of the town.
He was used to the various pirate ships stopping by the town for weeks at a time, a sight that thrilled him as a young boy. He’d liked to run to the quay and watch as the ships sailed towards the shore.
He used to bring Aberforth and Ariana as well; the three of them sitting shoulder to shoulder and watching the sails arriving, making up names for the ships.
As he grew older, other responsibilities took precedence and he stopped awaiting them.
One evening, after a particularly good day, Albus found himself walking down the port again just as a ship was arriving. The sun was dipping as the black sails appeared. On them was etched a symbol he’d never seen with his own two eyes, but heard of. A circle within a triangle, split down the middle.
The Nurmengard.
He had heard the name whispered often enough — the ship of Gellert “Stormcaller” Grindelwald, the pirate whose legend stretched across every sea. It was said that none who crossed him lived to tell the tale, though those who sent them always received a token of the captain’s “gratitude.”
High upon the mast, the captain surveying the town as if he owned it. His gaze fell on the man with copper hair standing among the crowd.
Albus’ eyes fell on the captain, high above the rest. He turned around and disappeared in the crowd.
It took Vinda one day and one night to find him again, and another night to steal him from the quiet life he was never meant to live.
