hmm........ well, it's pretty obvious but i would have to say that i associate the groke with winter haha :'D ........ although she's often depicted in moomin series in the snow, i moreso associate her with foggy, frosty days....... like weather where the sun never seems to fully rise and it's dark and cold and you can never see very far in front of you, yknow?

i also associate cool purple colours with her! the 90s anime would show her with a purpleish colour in some scenes and it stuck with me lol

i think i also associate her with the beach in winter/at night. moominpappa at sea made a big impression on me as a kid and i think the groke is at her best in that book. the images of her crossing the ocean and coming to the shore at night to howl mournfully were so striking and sad but beautiful.

the groke also brings back happy childhood feelings/associations for me. my mum used to read me the books as a bedtime story when i was too little to read myself, like she would read me a chapter each night, and it makes me feel calm and happy to remember it. the groke used to scare me as a kid but she was always my favourite too bc i loved being scared lol. plus her character has always resonated with me and made me feel seen in a lot of ways even when i was a kid. i love that Creature

im putting snorkmaiden here bc she's a very funny and enjoyable character to me but i get the impression that a lot of ppl in the wider moomins fandom don't rlly like her??? i mean she's not my favourite character or anything but i think she is cute and often hilarious and i care abt her a lot
