A New Reign | Guhdun
Once he was nearly fully dressed and groomed, just his tie left to be done, Gideon sent the few servants that had been employed to help him prepare out of the room. He needed a moment of peace and quiet before everything change for him yet again.
With Cadence and Cece getting ready in another room, he almost thought to go in and check on them, but every time he moved to leave the room, he felt like he was being pulled away from the door and back to the mirror on the far wall.
He looked fantastic of course, but his heart was racing just as fast as his first coronation - possibly faster, considering he was surely in more danger here. At least back then, he hadn’t known how the people would truly react to his reign, though most people supported his rise to power. Now, he couldn’t shake the feeling that someone might try to kill him again tonight the moment his name was announced, and now he had Cadence and Celeste to worry for worse.
“Why am I doing this?” he asked under his breath as he sat on the stool in the center of the room and buried his head in his hands. He wasn’t sure the clouds in his head would part long enough for him to remember the answer.
