Ok so Pomni’s torture scene represented betrayal. We all got that. But I’m going to take it one step further: I think it represents the specific fear that when people are being nice to her, they’re actually putting on a front to infantilize her.

Walk with me here:

First we see what looks to be normal GummiGoo, then he turns and shows his face.

Here we see a face that’s more like an actual crocodile, not the kid-friendly version of a crocodile that GummiGoo is. He is, quite literally, turning on her and showing his “real” side.

Then we see Gummigoo and his gang attack Pomni, tearing her apart like the apex predators they are in real life. In this moment, they are literally showing their true nature.

You have one side of GummiGoo that Pomni is friends with, the toothless PG version made to appeal to children. Then you see a “real” version of GummiGoo, one that will hurt you without a second thought.

Now put this together with her relationship with Ragatha and Jax. She tells Ragatha she’s not a child and begins to mistrust her after Gangle says it’s hard to tell when she’s being genuine, she is hurt by Jax when he says he was only friends with her because he thought it would be funny. There’s this theme that keeps coming around; people befriending her to humor her while hiding their real intentions/opinions.

And the cherry on top would be this interaction in episode 2:

And this to me solidifies Pomni being neurodivergent coded. Because I think all neurodivergent people know that feeling; when you find out a friendship wasn’t real and you were just there to be their personal jester.
