hey i saw your post about the cars driving through the crazy intersection in Ethiopia and your comments about it. You made a really good point about feeling safer because of how they assess the situation by the moment. It's hard to tell in the video, but about how fast were people driving through it? Just like a guestimation I'm really curious
that video was sped up (you can tell because cars can't stop and go that quickly at those speeds)
it was probably 20-40 mph (32-65 kmph) in intersections, though sometimes it was much slower (and you could see there is a lot of stop/go/stop/go) 40 mph would be the extreme.
they only would go fast on expressways or on main roads, but never through intersections.
I was there for a week and we drove about 4-6 hours a day, and I saw one accident. I will drive for an hour here in arizona and see two.
