okay so, she was born in new york city to old money, with her family having fingers in every pie and living all over the country. her mother was from orange county so when the time came for the family to settle for schooling, it was decided that the west coast would be a better stomping ground.
being the only daughter, she was the apple of her father’s eye and would often get whatever she wanted without any conflict. this made her somewhat materialistic and entitled, but she never truly showed that side beyond family ?? like she always wanted to be seen as that sweetheart of the family.
and then when she went to high school, she met ezra and was all heart eyes for him because he was her first love, and first loves last forever, right? okay, well, maybe not but at the time that’s how she felt. so even when she found out that she was pregnant, she believed that everything would be okay because it was something that they had talked about when discussing their futures.
her family are catholic so she did not consider an abortion, as she knew her parents would not pay for one — and when she eventually told them, they were 110% behind the suggestion that the two should marry before it became noticeable. however, they were not fully supportive of the relationship till that point, and even condemned it after marriage.
when her first baby was born, she was literally overwhelmed with her emotions because she honestly didn’t think she could love anything more. whilst the baby bought her and ezra together, she allowed it to push them apart; as often she was just completely focused on being a mother, and was not completely concerned about being a wife. the distance between them only grew when he cheated, with her knowing that she could never trust him again and often playing on his guilt to push him away.
after her father found out about ezra’s cheating, he told her that she was cut off from any handouts until she left him. however, being a stubborn lil soul, she decided that she would try to make things work with her husband. their happiest times were in their first born’s early days which is why she agreed to having a second child.
if anything for lydia, the second child made her feel way more insecure about her body and her confidence. but she pushed those feelings aside because she now had two children and needed a safe environment for them. however, the telltale signs were there — such as she clung to the idea of attachment parenting with their youngest, or that she started getting heavily involved in her eldest child’s pta to spend less time with her husband.
either way, the relationship fell apart again and it was a mix of different things that became the catalyst. he wasn’t perfect, she wasn’t perfect; but she learned from it. and whilst it was very intense between the couple, they came through with a somewhat amicable divorce for the sake of their children.
so what happened next?? cali seemed toxic to lydia, but she did not want to uproot her children from their lives so they lived with their father whilst she moved back to the east coast and settled into working for one of her father’s charities. she began to make her own money and now has a healthier relationship with her family. even to the point where lydia’s mother introduced her to her second husband.
this second marriage is completely different to her first, the trust is there, and lydia is completely confident in the fact that she truly loves him. if anything, the only problem for her is that she did not want anymore children — yet they ended up having a son, called george. the big secret?? she still hasn’t told her other children about their brother because she is worried about their reactions. honestly, if she could tell them on her deathbed, she would.
now she is in a sticky situation because she has moved back to halston to take care of her maternal grandmother, and worries she can’t keep her new life and old life separate; which she has been doing for the past few years.
