So when they gonna kiss
The tension in that picture lmao. It's two paintings of Gustav Vasa of Sweden, and Kristian II of Denmark. (Also known as Kristian the tyrant)
They were kings over their separate countries during the 1500's.

Gustav I Begins the Reformation in Sweden
On June 24, 1527, King Gustav I of Sweden began the transformation of Sweden from a Catholic kingdom into a Protestant state during the Swedish Reformation. At the Diet of Västerås, Gustav used his authority to reduce the power of the Catholic Church, seize church properties, and place religious institutions under royal control.
The reforms were influenced by the ideas of the Martin Luther and the wider Protestant movement spreading across Europe. Many monasteries and church lands were taken by the crown, strengthening royal finances and centralizing power.
Gustav’s actions changed Sweden’s religious and political future. Over the following decades, Sweden officially became Lutheran, ending centuries of Catholic dominance and making the monarchy the leading force in religious affairs.

Statue of King Gustav I, Nordiska Museet. Gustav Vasa became leader of a 16th century uprising against the Kalmar Union monarchy which had ruled all of Scandinavia since the 14th century. He became seen as the king who liberated Sweden from Denmark, and the founder of the Swedish nation, particularly in the nationalistic 19th century period in which the Nordiska Museet was founded. #stockholm #sweden #museum #statue #nordiskamuseet #gustavvasa (at Nordiska museet / Nordic Museum)
