On GW2: VoE elite specs reveals:
Been loving the lore reasoning/cultural backstory we're getting behind each spec reveal, as related to the Tyrian Alliance. So far we got:
Troubador (Mesmer) = Sylvari
Galeshot (Ranger) = Dominion of Winds/Tengu
Luminary (Guardian) = Charr
Antiquary (Thief) = L.A. black market traders lol
Ritualist (Necromancer) = Cantha/Humans
Paragon (Warrior) = Elona/Humans
I would bet my bottom dollar that the Elementalist Evoker will be Norn related. Which just leaves the unannounced Rev and Engi specs. Pretty sure the Asuran-related spec will be Engineer (though the more interesting choice would be the Rev imo).
So! Where does the new Revenant spec come from?? The Hylek? The Skritt?? Or perhaps something completely new! Most of all, I wonder what Rytlock will think of it all 🤔
New Sylvari character. Cause, apparently I love rolling new ones and leveling them. Anyhow. Trying to discover what the Pale Tree actually looks like.
**Warning, possible crazy theory ahead!**
All you ever see is her Avatar, a representation. But it that what her true form looks like? Or just something to put your mind at ease? I don’t know all the lore. But my understanding is, we really don’t know where she comes from. What if she is a dragon? Not necessarily an “elder dragon”; which I think is basically a dragon that’s amassed large amounts of power. The Pale Tree was found as a see (as I recall), and planted. Away from other dragons, and possible far enough away to keep her from absorbing large amounts of magic. Unlike Aurene. Aurene has had many chances to absorb power and has progressed to great power. But what would happen if a dragon didn’t? Could the Pale Tree be this? I think of Mordremoth and creating minions (slaves), where as the Pale Tree creates similar beings, but with a free will. Sort of? They are in the dream, and are usually haunted by the need to fulfill that dream. Also, the avatar of her, the dreams (mind abilities) as seem to mimic Mordremoth, but in a much friendly way. I also wonder if the “dreams” are more like memories of fallen Sylvari. Are they all connected? And if she uses the memories to create visions for her other children to help them learn and grow. Prepare for the tasks at hand.
All of this reminds me of Mordremoth, but in a good way. It’s like the balance of “good and evil” of dragons: Glint verses Kralkatorik.
Ok, maybe I have totally lost it. I have had a lack of sleep and my mind likes to stretch things. But what if!? I think it would be a really interesting story plot line twist. Not to mention, if Tyria needs friendly elder dragons, she would make an excellent replacement for the next one we have to nix. Just saying. Sorry if this spoils anything for someone. I am curious if anyone has some lore info to clear things up, or further my delusion. Curious to see.
I'm staking my guess on the episode 6 location to be this area here, Marga Coast.
The maps always need a real world location; it's part of the LWs4 design philosophy. This area has a:
coastline (seen in the mount trailer),
marshland (MAY be in the mount trailer, may just be a rift location),
cliffs (seen in the mount trailer),
proximity to Jahai/the original Rift nonsense,
proximity to Sun's Refuge,
Nightfall significance/prescience.
I shall toot my horn with the confirmed warrior paragon and (backup option) of necro ritualist (if that's the symbol they're going for, and I still maintain that the revenant is a variation on the ritualist so I was technically correct, the best kind of correct)
Welp, guess we're getting new elite specs huh? They don't have to necessarily be called elite or work the same, since they've been kinda messed up as a concept by SotO, but new specs for sure. Or an overhaul of the system.
Kinda felt it coming since we now have two classes with two elites who can do the same boon (mesmer has chrono and mirage for alac, revenant got alac vindy on top of renegade), so maybe we're gonna get a double option per boon for each class eventually? One this exp, another next? Chrono is always gonna be the gifted child who can do both, so maybe mesmer gets all but virt?
I'm calling that this one is gonna be a mesmer spec that gives quickness because >music >faster rhythm Or Anet can pull another of its surprises and it's a thief. Or a necro lmao
Okay so... Thief is the most obvious choice for the initiative-like symbol on the card (willbender had it too but it supports my idea of it being a guardian learning from thieves so I stand by it) and the overall vibe of the class.
If I had to be more creative... Necro (gambling with powerful beings to summon things) or guardian (going the opposite way of faith and virtues).
Funny (evil) option would be elementalist getting randomized elements per spell >:D
Also at this point it's safe to assume each new spec is gonna be lore-related to a different factions in the Tyrian Alliance? 👀
So far we have: Troubadour - Sylvari Galeshot - Tengu of Dominion of Winds Luminary - Charr (Flame and Iron specifically) Ritualist - Canthans Paragon - Elonians
As for those missing, we know of Antiquary and Evoker, then there's the rev and engy with the unnamed "Blob 'n Swirls" and "9 weird things" symbols (not saying who is who because it's still leaks-only)
The remaining factions (that joined so far) are: Lion's Arch, asura, norn, Wizards/Astral Ward, Kodan, skritt, hylek, Free Awakened. Not sure if we can consider the Pact as they're not really a people, but maybe the Echovald Free Territory counts.
It might be safe to assume the skritt are tied to the Antiquary, maybe in collaboration with Lion's Arch? Evoker feels either norn with some lesser/other Spirits of the Wild and... maybe Echovald free territory, if they count separately, since the fox looks very much like the Shrine Guardians? Blob n swirls: Asuran. They're missing and we need more of it. 9weirdthings: Kryptis join the Alliance through the Wizards? Otherwise norn or something? 🤔
