A basic tenet of fairytales isthat the hero is never, never going to die by falling from a cliff – always ahuge bird, or a river, or a helpful tree branch to catch. You really, reallyhope you have been hero enough to call that law of narrative into play, becausethe ground is approaching at rapid speed.
