What’s up GaymerX fans?

Did you follow along last week for our daily announcements of Bosses of Honor on Twitter and Facebook? It’s okay if you didn’t, because we’re going to share that all with you now in cased you missed it!

We held off from having Bosses at GXEast last year since we wanted to make sure we could do a good job setting up a new event, but in our second year we felt it was important to give East more of the elements of West that you all have come to love.

We’re really excited about the incredible folks who are coming together to represent #GXEast17! We really believe in the work they’re doing and hope you’ll join us to support them in a little more than two weeks.

WE DID IT!!!

Thank you so much to everyone who attended #GXEast17. It couldn’t have happened without the support of our staff, volunteers, and speakers… we can’t thank them enough! The weekend was truly incredible, and we’re so appreciative of everyone who shared their time with us this weekend. You keep us all so inspired and motivated.

We have a lot we’ll be working on in the coming weeks. As you may recall, we were able to fund all our panels being recorded this year thanks to the support of our backers on Kickstarter. Our wonderful video team will be processing all that good content, and we’ll be rolling that out publicly as soon as we can. Additionally, our wonderful photo team was snapping away all weekend too! We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the status of all that. Please be patient and remember that the majority of the folks who support those efforts are volunteers! We hope you’ll join us in cheering them on as they work to get everything finished for you.

While the GaymerX team will be taking some time to rest up and recover, we can promise you there is a lot of interesting things in the works over at MidBoss HQ. Curious about more? We’ve dropped a couple of hints for you over on our Patreon that you can see if you support for as little as $1…………….

IT’S ALMOST HERE!!!

#GXEast17 starts this weekend and we’re beyond excited. Our complete schedule of panels is now online, so you can check that out and start planning your weekend.  

We’re also pleased to announce Oculus will be joining us at #GXEast17 as a platinum sponsor! They’ll have some really awesome demo stations, plus you’ll be able to meet some folks and talk VR. We're so thankful! See y'all there.

We’re going to be closing online ticket sales on Friday so if you’re looking to grab one in advance and secure your spot, please pick up yours before it’s too late and save $5! We’ll have tickets at the door too though, so if you bring a friend last minute they’ll still be able to join in on the fun.

Hey though, speaking of Friday, do you have any plans yet? Because we really think your plans should be to check out No Quarter. Our friends at the NYU Game Center commission a couple great games every year then throw a fun party to celebrate. EMi’s been going for the past couple of years and can vouch for the fact that it’s a great time. This year’s creators are Auriea Harvey, Droqen (Alexander Martin), Kitty Horrorshow, and Pietro Righi Riva. We hope we’ll see you there!

Hey everyone! We’re postponing this week’s ROM Record Retrospective because we have some pretty important news about GXEast17: We’re extending panel submissions!

The new deadline is Friday September 15th! We spoke to a lot of people at PAX who either hadn’t known the original date or simply hadn’t had the time to submit before the previous deadline. Once we had that feedback, we wanted to make sure we were giving everyone we could the opportunity to get their talks in. So don’t miss out, this is the very last chance to submit something for GaymerX East!!

We’ve also started setting up a guide to getting a hotel room for the weekend of the event! Things are a little tricky in NYC that weekend thanks to the NY Marathon happening on the same weekend, but we’ve been able to secure some rooms at the DoubleTree by Hilton which is a very convenient block and a half away. We’re working to try to get some more options for y’all too though, so keep an eye on the hotels section of our website. We’ll also be sure to post any new information over here too!

Programming submissions are open for #GXEast17!

As you may have already seen, we opened up submissions to volunteer at our second ever GaymerX East. We couldn’t stop there though, so now we’ve opened up submissions for Panels and Tabletop Games as well!!

Panels are incredibly important to our conventions, and we definitely want to highlight under-represented voices from East Coast communities. Please, even if you’re feeling shy or if you’ve never spoken publicly before, send us that talk you’ve always wanted to present. Speaking with friend is always an option too, just be sure to have your collaborators fill out this form as well so we know to include them.

If panels aren’t necessarily your favourite way to get your voice out there, you could also run a session of your favorite tabletop game! We aren’t limiting submissions to the classics either; if you’ve been working on a game of your own and just want to get some fresh hands on it please submit that as well! This is all about you, right? So please send us tabletop games of all kinds! We’re ready and excited to review.

If you have questions about submitting a panel or workshop, drop us a note at [email protected]. While there is no submission deadline to volunteer, Panel and Tabletop submissions are due by August 30th. So get those submissions in please! We can’t wait to see what you have to share with us 😉

Hey there to all our summer pals! We hope you’re enjoying these last bits of warm weather.

You may have already caught this on Twitter and Facebook, but tickets for #GXEast17 are available for the first time outside our Kickstarter! We’re really looking forward to being back in New York and seeing you all there, so be sure to grab a ticket to avoid missing out. There will be a price hike as we get closer to the event so if you’re on the frugal side this is your best bet to get in on all the fun and still save a couple of bucks.

Wondering more about behind the scenes about what we’re up to at GaymerX? Did you know we have a Patreon? We post all kinds of MidBoss secrets over there, from game projects to exclusive updates about things we’re planning for #GXEast17. This month Philip took to the pen (er, keyboard?) to let our Patrons in on some secrets that aren’t quite ready for the public yet. You can find out what they are for yourself for as little as $1, though supporting us at a higher amount gets you access to all kinds of good stuff.

Wondering what’s up with the rest of the team? Well, we’re back on the go again! This month you’ll be able to catch MidBossers (we’ve decided this is a thing literally just now) Matt, Toni, Bemp, and Landon tabeling at FlameCon in NYC, then Matt, Toni, JJ, and EMi will be supporting our friends at MAGFest at their first ever west coast event! There’s even going to be two MidBoss panels: Friday will be GaymerX After Dark, and Sunday will be Queerness in Games. If you’ll be in the area of either of these great events please be sure to say hi to everyone if you see them, and support us by stopping by our tables or panels. We’re so proud of our friends for continuing to put on such great events and excited for the opportunity to be at them once again!

 As of right now, we have 9 days remaining on our Kickstarter. We still have quite a ways to go though, and we really need your help. This Kickstarter is our only planned GaymerX event this year, and the future of GaymerX depends on its success. If you want to help keep our gay gaming dreams alive, please tell all your friends about our campaign and consider backing, even for just $1 if you can’t make it this time.
