What about Genya or Gyomei being gifted to a gang leader who they think will use them as a guard demon but ends up being the very doting / proud pet parent type. Spending a small fortune so they only have the best clothes, constantly bragging, not letting a subordinate even look at them wrong etc and hey there’s lots of spare fresh human flesh that needs to be got rid of so they even get the best food.

Genya

Genya is wary, and determined not to stupidly fall for it when you first start being nice to him. It's not real. It can't be real. He's not the cute, pampered house pet type, and you both know that's not what you bought him for... right? Despite all of his cynicism and defensiveness, Genya is also very, very weak to gentleness. When you're persistently, genuinely kind to him, it rapidly erodes his will to resist. He doesn't care too much what you do in your personal life, aside from the fact that your occupation means you're very used to violence, which means that you could easily turn that same cruelty onto him if he fucks up and makes you angry... right?

Gyoumei

He's dreading ending up with someone like you— surely, he'll only end up dragged into more violence in such an environment, used for his strength and his size with no concern for how he feels about being someone's violent tool. Even when you start out kind, Gyoumei doesn't trust it. He doesn't know why you're going to such effort to convince him you're safe, but it has to be a lie. It takes a long, long time of consistent gentleness and care before he starts to accept that you really do intend to treat him well, and even then, it feels strange. Wrong. He almost feels guilty for enjoying such nice things when the rest of your life is filled with so much cruelty.
