sitting on the table that aeggie was staring at was a small, dingy, burgundy bag. inside of it was everything — everything — that aeggie now owned. they had watched the rest of their possessions sink to the bottom of the lake along with their old house. kurious had fucked up phenomenally this time. and yet, aeggie hadn’t wasted their breath yelling at the boy who thought it would be funny to disconnect a crucial part of the boat. rather than run back home to their dad and lose the freedom that they recently got when they moved out, aeggie had turned to their friend, jisoo. the other had graciously offered for aeggie to stay with them. it wasn’t an offer that was worth passing up right now. arms folded up on the table, aeggie lowered their head until their chin was resting on their arms. “thank you again for letting me stay here,” they murmured for what was probably the fifth time. their politeness really knew no bounds. the person leaned their head over to the side to see jisoo from around their bag. “i promise i won’t be in the way in the mornings or anything.”
