HACKS - S05 E09
Hacks ending w Deborah and Ava chatting happily, arms linked, full of hope and dreams after spending time together in Paris of all places w the promise of Deb choosing to stay alive because Ava asked her please to not leave her
btw this was the gayest shit on this episode and i remind you they kissed
Saw someone use the word, "queerbaiting" to describe the latest episode of Hacks (Montecito), and I'm not just putting that word on a high shelf now, I'm loading it up into a cannon and firing it into the fucking sun until we can learn that words have meanings again.
she might be “straight” (deb didn’t actually confirm that 👀), they may have joked about deb being out of ava’s league, and they may not show each other the type of stuff we wanted to wholly confirm canon, but they are legitimately the epitome of “you’re still the one i run to, the one that i belong to”. deb left her dream for ava. she chose her over her dream. she tried repeatedly to push this stubborn woman away and failed every single time. even at their worst. she let ava into her world more than anyone she ever had. she let herself be changed by ava. and at the end, she didn’t want marty, some nameless singer guy, or even her own daughter there at the end. she wanted the love of her life there—ava daniels. and even though ava finally caved and agreed (with much relenting and trying to convince her), it’s also somehow fitting that it’s ava who convinces her to give it one last fight. that it’s ava’s “please don’t leave me” that convinces her to stay. to live. i don’t care what anyone says about mother/daughter, mentor/mentee, labels, etc. they are endgame in every universe.
i really hope they doubled back for those salt and pepper shakers
Hacks season five episode 2 being a love letter to fans -> singling out Xena in a b plot: a show famous for its unspoken love story between the main female characters??? -> more gay subtext for me to think hard about
