Saw someone use the word, "queerbaiting" to describe the latest episode of Hacks (Montecito), and I'm not just putting that word on a high shelf now, I'm loading it up into a cannon and firing it into the fucking sun until we can learn that words have meanings again.
Hacks 5x07 is actually so fucking good. I gotta admit i didn't have faith and I was afraid they were going to mock the avorah shippers, as many other tv shows have done to their own fandoms, but damn! On the contrary! Hacks addressed avorah in the most decent and respectful way i could ever imagine. They really done them right 🥲
Mostly I think due to the fact that the episode is true and honest to the bone. Like. The only thing Ava had to invent (allegedly) was the graphic details of their sexual life. Everything else that was talked about was literally what had happened. I'll repeat: to pretend to be in a fake relationship all they had to do was behave like they normally behave, only with Ava being a touch more all over Deborah than usual. A smidge more. And the that's like the point the episode is making, in big bold letters.
Ava calls Damien and he's like "nope", because everyone who's ever been in the room with them has felt like a third wheel. They might not be a couple (allegedly), but they're an item. That, admittedly, can be a real mindfuck to witness. At least Damien is paid to do so.
They are undoubtedly soulmates. They truly love each other. In the way that's rightfully incomprehensible to anyone but them, while they are remarkably blind to the way they look from the outside.
I also think that when Deborah says Ava is her voice she means it like in a physical way, you know?

I'm ten minutes into the lesbian episode and I am fucking sweating. I just know it's going to do things for me I've only ever experienced through Mirandy fanfiction and I'm not sure if I'm prepared
