The passengers reached a stage of indifference in the end, from the lack of change and the sleep-inducing waves. But then, finally, after 43 days, they could spot the first glimpse of Krete. Or at least the cliffs they later heard was called The Throne of Poseidon.
- Soon we will reach our destination, the captain said. Tonight we will anchor close to the cliff because these waters are tricky. Tomorrow morning we will sail the last distance. We will arrive before darkness if the winds are good.
- Wow! Look how impressive it is! Eira said when they got closer to the cliff. It’s huge! This landscape doesn’t look anything like home!
- Hmm. I think it’s a bit scary... It’s all so very different.
- It is. But you know, we are together, and we will manage. Whatever comes in our way. And no matter what, aren’t you glad this journey is over?
- That I am! Noor said. I would prefer to never be on a ship again in my whole life! I can’t wait to get solid ground under my feet!
When they got closer to shore, some people were euphoric, and others were their usual whimpering mood.
- Holy Moros, what a smell! Mister Itzhak complained.
- Oh shut up will you! All harbors smells like this! Mister Ksar snapped back.
- I can’t see any city with the beautiful houses like you told us about Mrs Hadarah? Noor was puzzled.
- If you mean the castle you can’t see it from here, you have to wait until you reach your uncle’s town. But if you look between the palm trees over there, you can see the harbor and the surrounding houses.
- YES! Noor shouted, I can see it! Oh Eira look! It’s beautiful!
