It’s that time of year again, the brief asparagus season. I find simple is best with this fleeting vegetable, this harbinger of warmer days to come. A bit of olive oil, salt, pepper, and a bit of heat: a grill or 400 degree oven and maybe 7-9 minutes depending on the size of the stalks. You can get a bit wild like I did tonight with a flourish of grated Parmesan at the end and a tiny sprinkling of Aleppo pepper, but that’s as crazy as it gets.
