Hannah likes rebels. That's what drew xer to Castiel. Castiel who rebelled and fell. But, xe realized that he wasn't really a rebel; he just was loyal to someone other than God, Dean Winchester. So, when xe met Gadreel, the traitor, xe didn't have high expectations. Gadreel turned out to be a lot more than xe ever expected.
It was a trait Hannah didn’t want to admit to herself. These… feelings, or attractions, whatever Castiel would have called them in his typical human-esque way, were something Hannah didn’t boast about. Her feelings were not admirable. They were not honorable.
In what way was it natural for an angel to fall in love? Furthermore, what angel was attracted to rebellion? Hannah knew. Lucifer, for one, and his followers that burned with him when they were banished from heaven. Hannah was not like them. She never would be.
But then of course, some things did change. She met Castiel, took on a vessel for the first time and felt what it was like to experience… humanity. There were genders and societal manners and rules, most of which Hannah was completely averse to. Gender? A pointless construct. Societal manners? Useful, only in context.
Then there were feelings. Those awful, horrible, unrelenting feelings that seemed to lead Hannah wherever they wanted, seemingly without a care as to what Hannah’s mission was.
There was Castiel, too. The rebel. The traitor. And against all of Hannah’s better judgements, she still fell for him. He was unique, a sparkling gem in a pile of rocks pretending to shine just as brightly. After all, God made all of them, but Castiel was the one with a ‘crack’ in his design. He was flawed, corrupted by the Winchesters and humanity. He was not someone to follow, or love.
And yet.
Then came Gadreel. The first angel to follow Lucifer. The first angel Lucifer deceived and brought about damnation for all humanity.
He was ancient and powerful, feared, the most devastating angel who ever lived aside from Lucifer himself. He was the one angels told horror stories about when they were fledglings, just young angels looking to be the best that they could for their father and humanity.
Gadreel. The monster, the traitor, the failure.
Hannah met him. He was not like the stories had described.
His grace was gentle and pulsing. Upon first look, if Hannah hadn’t been paying attention, she would have considered him one of the elders, old and wise without an ounce of violence in their vessels. Or, perhaps he could have hidden away with the guardians, who looked after lost children of the world. It didn’t seem right that a soul so peaceful at its core could be described as a monster.
But then again, Lucifer was also the most beautiful, so Hannah remained on her guard.
Gadreel only continued to boggle Hannah’s mind. He was peaceful, yet fierce. He proved he could fight, even destroy as necessary. But his battered, tortured grace never wavered in its resolve to bring good. Despite his horrific mistakes, his intentions were still pure.
Metatron told Hannah this is what made him more dangerous.
“Good intentions bring about the worst catastrophes,” he quipped one day, going through his library shelves like it was an ordinary day and not the beginning of the end of the war. “I wouldn’t trust him farther than I could throw him! Even though I’m sure I could throw him quite far with my awesome power-”
Hannah got the point. Gadreel was dangerous. He was untrustworthy.
And yet.
Her mind drifted to Castiel, the leader she would have followed to the ends of the earth. Castiel was a rebel, but not at his core. He followed Dean, the true leader and rebel of humanity.
Gadreel, on the other hand, was the true epitome of a rebel. He was gentle and heartfelt, but he refused to give in. He was clever and ruthless, but always reaching out with open hands in the hope that someone might open their arms in return. Sadly, that was rarely the case during days like these.
He was entrancing, captivating. Hannah found herself watching him closely, more and more with every day that passed as she remained on Metatron’s side, waiting for the time to finish the war and bring peace back to heaven.
Then she truly met him. In person. He only proved to change her perspective all over again.
He was completely willing to die for his cause, willing to lose everything for the sake of the mission, for the sake of humanity and peace.
When he raised his stone, Hannah felt her heart plummet into her gut. It was in that exact moment Hannah realized she’d been wrong.
She’d been wrong about everything.
Gadreel was more than a rebel. Gadreel was more than a monster, or a traitor, or a villain. He was more than anything she ever could have expected or desired, and her heart dropped at the thought of what heaven, earth, and Hannah especially, had just lost forever.
So when Hannah took a new vessel a year later, having spent all his time working to find a way to revive the lost angel, he put the pieces back together and watched in admiration as the vessel before him and the angelic council opened its eyes.
Gadreel stared at them in confusion, hand raised against his chest where the markings of his death once lay.
Instead of asking how, as Hannah had predicted, Gadreel surprised him yet again.
“Why?” Gadreel asked, voice low and rasping from disuse.
Hannah smiled and knelt beside the angel before him, feeling at peace for the first time in twelve months.
“Because you were right,” Hannah replied. “You were remembered for more than your mistakes. No one is more worthy of a second chance than you.”
Gadreel’s eyes shone in wonder. Hannah extended a hand, heart skipping a beat when Gadreel locked their fingers together.
Hannah’s heart leapt with joy. This was going to be the beginning of beautiful things.

to get started, @cockleddean, @deanandhiscas, @cains-mane, got any starter ideas?? ;) ;)
I had never heard of Hadreel until this moment with your tags omg-- is that Hannah and Gadreel?
Yep! If you look up the hadreel tag on tumblr, you will literally only find the posts I’ve made and asks I’ve answered. It’s an extreme rare pair and I’ve been working hard to try and grow it, but it’s had a slow start… for now.
I’m planning on writing a bunch in the coming weeks :D It’s going to be awesome and I can’t wait for people to see more of them~!
Here are my reasons of why they’re amazing, part one and part two
In an effort to gain more support and recognition for the wonderful, beautiful ship that is Hannah x Gadreel, I give you the following AU’s:
hadreel au where gadreel is an ancient pagan god who looks after the lost children and youth of the world and hannah is a devoted follower and priestess who may or may not be adored by gadreel himself
hadreel au where gadreel and hannah were next-door neighbors and classmates growing up and gadreel used to tease hannah and pull her pigtails in class but grew up to be her best friend and helped her cut her hair when she became he
hadreel au where hannah is a math genius and gadreel is the ‘reluctant’ yet loyal intern who is secretly a math genius as well
hadreel au where hannah is running for president and gadreel is the very tired and cranky PR lead but whoops hannah is single and ready to mingle and look-ie there so is gadreel and being in charge of PR isn’t going to lower this coming scandal
hadreel au where hannah and gadreel are boyfriends and fuck with society’s gender rules their entire lives and have no plans of stopping
hadreel au where hannah and gadreel are grumpy apartment neighbors and are constantly sending complaints against each other and the manager gets so upset they plan a fake ‘meeting’ and end up just locking the two together and forcing them to actually face each other and deal with it (bonus points if the apartment manager is castiel)
hadreel au where gadreel is the sassy university librarian and hannah is the overworked professor who has no time for this thank you very much
hadreel au were hannah and gadreel are joint presidents of an executive company and everyone is simultaneously terrified of their incredible leadership and sharp decision making skills but also totally in awe of how totally in love these two idiots are and no one knows if hannah and gadreel even know about it yet
THERE ARE NO FICS, FAN ART, GRAPHICS, OR ANY KIND OF MEDIA DEDICATED TO HANNAH/GADREEL
THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE, ASAP
CAUSE HANNAH/GADREEL IS LIFE
FOR EXAMPLE:
THE BONDING SCENE BEFORE GADREEL’S SACRIFICE
HANNAH’S RESPECT FOR GADREEL AFTERWARD
IMAGINE THEM HOLDING HANDS
THEY’D BE CUTE/AWKWARD DORKS ABOUT AFFECTION
They would visit Earth all the time, re-emphasizing the mission and protecting human life and reminding the other angels who they truly are
Gadreel would fall in love with all the different cultures across the planet and Hannah would learn more about empathy and the broad range and validity of human emotion and relationship
They would keep each other accountable and honest
If Gadreel had lived he and Hannah would have helped lead heaven together
Castiel would have never been taken by those angels and hurt by them because Gadreel would have been in the decision making and also would have helped Hannah keep her empathy stronger, and basically they would keep each other accountable enough that they would have found a much better method of dealing with the Darkness and the Winchesters
They would be super protective of each other and have super high respect for each other
They'd stand up for each other all the time, and if they had questions they wouldn't be afraid to ask
They're both patient and calculating and honestly they would be such a great team
DID I MENTION CUTE/AWKWARD AFFECTION
THEM HOLDING HANDS AFTER SEEING OTHER 'PARTNERS' DOING IT
THE FIRST TIME THEY TRY TO KISS
IT'S AWKWARD AND CLUMSY
AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY'RE DOING
BUT IT ISN'T BAD SO THEY KIND OF ACCEPT IT AND GO 'OKAY THAT'S A THING'
AND MAYBE THEY WOULDN'T DO THOSE KINDS OF THINGS OFTEN BUT THEY DEFINITELY HOLD HANDS TONS
AND HANNAH WOULD BE SO DETERMINED TO NEVER BE ASHAMED OF IT
If another angel ever challenged them about it she'd just give them a steely look and tighten her hold on Gadreel's hand and go, "We are displaying our commitment to each other and to the mission we serve in heaven and on earth. I fail to see the problem."
And Gadreel would sort of blush because you know he totally likes people who can take command and stick to what they believe
And Hannah would love Gadreel's love for humanity and culture
He's so old and ancient, and he literally stands for all they were created for, so he's already incredibly inspiring but he's just so gentle and loving (but they all know he's a warrior too so people try not to mess with him if they can help it)
Also don't think about Gadreel and his love for children and new creations of all kinds and Hannah watching him interact with young human children
ALSO GADREEL AND MALE!VESSEL HANNAH
JUST IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES
THERE ARE SO MANNY
JUST HANNAH/GADREEL
ALL OF THE HANNAH/GADREEL
NOW GO AND MAKE FAN ART AND GRAPHICS AND FICS
BECAUSE THIS WORLD NEEDS MORE OF THESE TWO HOLDING HANDS DANGIT
