he swears he takes his job home with him. it comes at no surprise -- he’s heard from various other doctors that they feel the exact same. it’s hard to separate the two, to go home and act like lucas, the family loving man, from doctor sanchez, a man devoted to healing. some days he’s better at it then others. today is not that day. both hands go up, open palms and he raises an eyebrow. ‘ hey ------ it’s just a question. i’m not looking for trouble, i promise. ’

a headcanon on why john picked that dog out of all the other ones there , pls n thank u
there’s actually a very simple reason: that dog was set to be put down. it’s a blink and you miss it sort of thing but you can actually see that written on the dog’s charts outside the cage. but, like i said, it is blink and you miss it and if you’re not looking for it you probably won’t notice it.
i didn’t actually notice it until after i read the screenplay for the movie which i’m sure a lot of people haven’t. but it is something that’s stated in the screenplay and, while the screenplay is different from the final shooting script and the final movie, i do like that they left that in:

so it’s really not much of a headcanon i suppose??but i guess i can say that john just got beaten down like nonstop for about two days, literally and figuratively, and he lost daisy, so when he sees this other dog who’s scheduled to be put down, john’s heart does kind of just go out to him. i don’t think john, after losing daisy, had the thought of “well i’ll definitely get another dog”. he might have eventually?? in a more normal way, but he kind of instantly knew he had to take that pitbull. he’d give the dog a second chance and the dog would give him a second chance.
she didn’t get spooked often, due to her constant interference with hell and the demons that came from it’s depths. she watched her father burn to ashes right in front of her, she’s had the dark side of magic try to pull her towards it -- she’s been through a lot. but she looks at the other now, a confused look flickering across her face and brows furrowed. ‘ how ... how do you know that? ’

Steve raised a brow, glanced at his cards, and then pushed two stacks of double stuffed oreos into the center of the table, one to match and another to raise. Relatively low stakes considering but that wasn’t the point.
“Rule number four … five of bluffing,” Steve wrinkled his nose at the echoed term, “don’t remind the enemy that you might be lying. If you’re not good at weaving tales and shooting the breeze then silence is your friend.”
