Celtic Goddesses Collection

Hafren - is the Celtic goddess of the river Severn. Known also by her Latin name, Sabrina, the goddess oversaw the waters of the River Severn, now located in the West of England, the Midlands and Wales. Little has been recovered of the myth of the goddess, but her story was transformed by Geoffrey of Monmouth in the 12th century Historia Regum Britanniae. She became a legenday British princess, who was drowned in the river by her step-mother due to a star-crossed romance with a Saxon prince.
