”In the early 2000s, empty highways in Saudi Arabia became the stage for a wild underground scene called hajwalah (or tafheet). With no race tracks and few sports cars, young drivers transformed everyday FWD sedans like Camrys and Corollas into drift machines, sliding across lanes at over 200 km/h.
Desert roads also gave birth to another sport known as “sidewall skiing,” where large SUVs like Land Cruisers were balanced on two wheels—sometimes with passengers leaning out or even changing tires mid-ride. The stunts look extreme but come with huge risks, and despite bans, fines, and jail time, videos continue to keep this outlaw culture alive.”
