A/N: Repost from Wishful Daydreamings on my other blog.
“Hakyeon! Stop it!” You laughed loudly, pushing at his wrists and chest. You did your best to lean away from him, but his hands held you to him, holding the back of your neck or around your waist. His kisses tickled, and despite how cute it may seem to the people walking around you, you couldn’t help but feel slightly embarrassed. “You’re smothering me!”
Your boyfriend had the biggest smile on his face as he finally let up, locking his hands behind your back and looking down at you lovingly. “But I want to show my love for you.”
You hit him lightly on the arm, glancing around you subtly, but never losing the happy smile on your face. “I think you’re getting a little out of hand.” Hakyeon pouted, turning his gaze up thoughtfully before shaking his head, cupping your face and kissing you hard on the forehead. “Nonsense. Everyone deserves to know how much I love you.”
His lips pressed against your cheeks again, making you giggle and fight his grasp again. He began making exaggerated kissing noises, and you cringed with an amused “Ew!” His laughter filled your ears again as he finally stopped, sparing you another look of adoration before kissing you lightly on the lips finally.

“Are you really going to eat that?” a voice inquired as you pulled a glazed donut up to your mouth. Hakyeon didn’t even let you take a bite. “That would be your third today.”
“And the problem with that is?” you asked with an impatient sigh, your hand hesitating with its delivery. You could smell the baked goods and also his disappointment at your decision-making.
“Well, there is no immediate problem, no. But weren’t you complaining about how your clothes felt tighter the other day-”
Shooting Hakyeon a dark look, the man held up his hands in front of him and chuckled. “By all means, eat the donut, Y/N.”
“Really. Today of all days?”
“What is it now?” you implored, and Hakyeon’s gaze washed over you before shifting back to the window he had been staring out of with disgust. You nodded curtly. “I can see that it’s raining outside.”
“I don’t much like the rain.”
“What you like and don’t like shouldn’t stop me from living, now should it?”
“No, I suppose it shouldn’t.”
Hakyeon didn’t seem as if he was finished, and you waited for the rest of his statement. “I don’t like the rain upon my wings.”
“So keep them concealed. Or even better, stay home. Keep cosy. I’ll go meet with Taekwoon without you.”
Hakyeon was quick to leave the windowpane behind him. “Alone? I think I’ll accompany you today.”
You smirked. “But the rain will get on your wings.”
You could sense Hakyeon was going to voice his opinion yet again, and you groaned, turning to point at the angel in protest. “Don’t say anything.”
“I believe I ought to.”
“Why? So you can cast negativity on the situation yet again?”
“I don’t always cast negativity, Y/N. As your guardian-”
“You know sometimes I wish you would disappear,” you stated, and Hakyeon blinked rapidly, his mouth falling ajar.
You didn’t know how to respond to your own words, shock enveloping you at speaking them. Did you really mean such a thing?
Hakyeon was your longest friend. He had been at your side since you were a child, having quite an accident-prone lifestyle even back then. You had thought him to be an imaginary friend, except when you grew too old to have one, he never disappeared. You were a teen by the time you realised he was your guardian angel.
Now, you felt as if you could live in this world without his constant guidance.
“Very well,” Hakyeon managed to say, swallowing down a lump in his throat at the same time.
“Wait, Hakyeon, I didn’t-!”
Before your sentence was finished, he was gone.
Looking at the donuts in a bakery window, you smiled sadly. You had no appetite for them today. Walking along the sidewalk sluggishly, you felt the heavens opening up above before a loud crash followed the sudden downpour. Stopping, you stared up at the skies, accepting the punishment desperately.
If only Hakyeon would come back.
It had been three days since you had said those hurtful words and three long days it had been. You always wondered why Hakyeon stuck to you like glue. Surely, you could cope in the world without him at your side.
You were learning very quickly how much you depended on him.
How much you loved him.
Shivering as the rain soaked you to the bone, you blindly turned to move off again, tripping over a storefront’s sign, and gripping onto the first thing you could grab.
It felt feathery, and you snapped your focus up, squinting against the grey light.
Hakyeon moved so the brightness stopped blinding you, and you didn’t hesitate to dive into his embrace, holding on firmly.
“I always have hated the rain,” he mentioned, and you laughed against him, snuggling him tighter.
Hakyeon equally had a firm hold of you.
“Let’s go home then. I don’t want your feathers to get too fluffy. You’ll need to sit with your wings out for hours to dry if we stand here much longer.”
“It will be worth it if you want me around you.”
“I never wish for you to disappear again!” you concluded as you looked up at your angel.
Hakyeon smirked. “Really? You were so certain you didn’t need me the other day.”
“Even if you nag me daily, I’d much rather listen to that than not hear or see from you. I can’t cope without you.”
“You’re lucky I’m too committed to you, Y/N. The last three days have been hellish, and I shouldn’t know about such dark places, being an angel and all.”
“You’re not that innocent,” you teased as he took your hand, and you both began walking.
Hakyeon chuckled. “No, I suppose you’re right.”
“Angels aren’t meant to have feelings for their charges, for one,” you reminded, and he gave you a pointed look. “What? Just because you can read my mind, doesn’t mean I don’t know how you feel about me.”
“Humans are more trouble than they’re worth,” he muttered, glancing back at his wings now folded against his back. “I never had to worry about my wings when I didn’t have you.”

Word Count: ~700
Today had been a busy day. You started out your day with going out for a run to clear your mind from the fitful night you had. Then, you hurriedly got dressed, running out of your empty apartment on an empty stomach as you headed to work. You were on your feet all day, walking in heels as you brought multiple documents to people and scheduled meetings for your boss. You barely even had time for lunch, but managed to squeeze it in. When the clock struck five and you started packing up your things, your boss stopped you and asked you to stay late to help clean up the office. There were big clients visiting the office and your boss needed the office to look the best it could.
Now, you were dragging your feet up the wooden staircase as you headed up to your apartment. Your back was aching and you couldn't wait to take off your heels and chuck them to the corner of your room. You struggled to find your keys, and when you did manage to find them, they fell from your clumsy fingers. You scrambled for your keys as you let out a frustrated sigh. You hurriedly opened your door and slammed it behind you. You walked to your bedroom and entered the room. You took off your heels and tossed them to the side of the room and set your purse next to them. You took a seat on the side of your bed, then decided to lie down. You set your phone on the pillows to your left and stared at the white ceiling in silence. Maybe I should try to take a nap, you thought.
But instead, you thought about the events of the day. Your mind raced as you thought about your dreams the night before, not being able to have breakfast, and your boss forcing you to stay late. Those thoughts kept building up in your head continuously, never stopping, until you just couldn't take it. Tears slowly pricked your eyes and you tried to wipe them away, but they just kept coming. Your thoughts were shattered as your phone vibrated on your pillow. You grabbed it and answered the call, hoping it wasn't your boss asking if he should offer snacks to the clients.
“Hello?” You asked, trying to sound normal.
“Well, someone doesn't sound happy,” A familiar voice answered. You laughed through your tears, but kept quiet. You're always happy to hear your boyfriend Hakyeon’s cheerful voice, but today was a day where you didn't know how to react.
“I-I’m just trying to sleep. I came back from work and thought that I should take a nap, but I…I can't fall asleep,” You answered as you cleared your throat. You heard a door close on Hakyeon’s side, but didn't think anything of it.
“Sorry, I just moved to a quieter place,” He said. There was a small pause before he started talking again. “Why haven't you been able to sleep? Is there anything I can do to help you sleep?”
You were quiet for a minute, thinking if you could ask him for anything.
“Sing for me,” You answered. You could hear Hakyeon’s soft laugh before he cleared his throat and began to sing.
“I overcoat it a little darker/ This night is smudging deeply/ Inescapably/ I close my eyes and look for you within me again/ I’m drunk, I get a little more drunk/ I want to immerse myself into this dream/ You come to me and/ Get absorbed only for me.”
Hakyeon stopped singing and waited for you to say something. Your eyes were closed, your ears relishing the sound of Hakyeon’s sweet voice in your ears. You let out a deep breath before speaking, your eyes still closed.
“You’re voice is absolutely beautiful.” You said tiredly, your words slurring as you spoke. You could hear Hakyeon’s giggles on the other line and you smiled as you felt yourself begin to settle.
“Goodnight, [Y/N].” And with that, Hakyeon hung up, leaving you in a deep slumber as you clutched your phone in your hand.
Summary: You knew you shouldn’t have set out the cupcakes so early
Hiii! Thank you for the request, hopefully this is smutty enough since it’s not as long as my other two!
Also I’m gonna have to agree with you there ;) Hakyeon is great fangirl bait *_*
>>> REQUEST<<<
Hakyeon was just strolling into the room as you finished setting up the cupcakes on the coffee table, ready for when your family visited. Your mum had an enormous sweet tooth, and vanilla cupcakes iced with strawberry frosting was her favourite kind. Your parents hadn’t seen you since you’d moved in with Hakyeon, so they wanted to come and inspect the new environment that you were living in. However unfortunately, vanilla cupcakes with strawberry icing were also your boyfriend Hakyeon’s favourites and you regretted setting them out 3 ½ hours before your parents were actually supposed to be arriving.
“Ooh what’s this?” Hakyeon eyed the cupcakes as he strolled into the living room. His eyes lit up when he realised you’d made his favourite flavour. He couldn’t believe you’d made him his favourite cupcakes from scratch! Usually you didn’t like to bake at home since it was time consuming so he felt honoured that you’d taken an hour out of your busy schedule to make something for him. His day was already going well and this was just the cherry on top. “Yum! For me? Thank you I’m so happy you made these for me it’s been so long and you know your cupcakes taste a lot better than store bought ones.” It’d been a while since you’d made some for him and you only really did it on special occasions. He pondered over what he’d done to deserve them recently as his hand reached out to grab one.
You karate chopped his hand away from the assortment of cupcakes just as he reached for the one in the centre. He gasped, pulling his hand back and glaring at you with a look of betrayal.
“What was that for?” he whined, rubbing his sore wrist.
“These are not for you,” you gestured towards the cupcakes as you narrowed your eyes at him in annoyance, a smirk playing at your lips. “Those are for my parents who, in case you didn’t know, will be here in just over 3 hours. So it’d be much appreciated if you helped me to tidy up and make yourself look presentable.” You gestured towards his grey sweatpants and plain black t-shirt.
He retaliated by pulling a face at you for lecturing him and you laughed, rolling your eyes playfully before strutting away to tidy something else up before your parents arrived.
Hakyeon, being the persistent little devil he is, followed you out of the room and through the hallway to your bedroom. He stood at the door frame as he watched you hustle around your room, making the bed and fluffing up the pillows.
“Will your parents really be inspecting the bedroom too?” Hakyeon raised an eyebrow at you in question as you looked at him. You sighed seeing he was still holding that god damn cupcake and shook your head to yourself at his actions, going back to straightening the sheets. Despite your annoyance, you still smiled at the fact that a grown man was willing to go so far for a cupcake, however you didn’t want Hakyeon to see the amusement on your face so you tried not to face him for too long.
After you ignored his question Hakyeon spoke up again, “Can’t I just have this one cupcake?” he asked in a whiny tone.
“No, as I said those are for my parents.” You answered sharply without looking at him.
“Pleaseeeeee.”
It seemed as if his whinging was never ending. You huffed in annoyance and threw the sheets back down. “Hakyeon, no means no. So if you don’t mind going to put that damn cake back and then helping me tidy the house that’d be great.”
Hakyeon gave you a challenging gaze as you finally made eye contact with him, your hands on your hips. He took several more steps into the room before he was by the foot of the bed and held the cupcake up. He raised his eyebrow again, provoking you. You knew he wasn’t going to, but your confidence wavered as he held the cupcake just centimetres away from his mouth as he kept eye contact with you, inching it closer and closer to his mouth.
You stormed over to him and snatched the cupcake out of his hand and he gave you a disapproving look as he took it from you with his own, sticking his tongue out at you. As you and Hakyeon continued to childishly fight over who had the cupcake, you stupidly didn’t assess what was bound to happen. Moments later after your harsh pulling, your hand slipped resulting in Hakyeon tugging it sharply, using too much strength and hitting himself in the face with it.
You both gasped audibly at the mess it had made, frosting covering Hakyeon’s lips and the tip of his nose. The look on his face was priceless, eyes accusing that you obviously did that on purpose. After a few seconds you burst out laughing at how ridiculous he looked, pink frosting giving him the facial hair he wished he had. Offended by you mocking him, he made his ‘stank’ face at you, but broke into a smile at your hysterics. You were both breathlessly laughing at the situation for a while before the moment passed and your quiet giggles eventually came to a stop.
The atmosphere changed and when you looked into Hakyeon’s eyes they shifted to another emotion besides humour. Realising where this was going you felt heat pool in your stomach at his smouldering gaze and took a step closer to him. You swiped your thumb over Hakyeon’s bottom lip collecting the frosting. Hakyeon’s eyes grew dark as he watched you slowly bring your thumb up to your mouth and your tongue poked out, pink and pointed. Hakyeon watched the slow movement of your tongue as it licked all of the frosting from your thumb. You giggled at his reaction and reached for his lips again, collecting a respectable amount of frosting. This time however, you slid your thumb into your mouth and begin to suck, getting all the frosting off from inside your mouth. Making sure to loudly slurp and suck so Hakyeon could hear, you took a step closer to him and widened your eyes, feigning innocence. You saw his body visibly shudder at your ministrations and you smirked to yourself in victory, determined to continue this until Hakyeon admitted surrender.
You don’t know how you ended up like this but It wasn’t long before the two of you were laid back on the bed with Hakyeon’s hips resting in between your legs. Your fingers raked through his hair as he marked your neck with his tender kisses and his fingers ran up your sides. You giggled at the feeling and felt him smile against your skin, giving little nips as he realised that his actions were tickling you. He placed several more chaste kisses up the side of your neck and jaw, your giggles continuing at the sensation. Moments later you felt Hakyeon’s hands slid up the bottom of your jumper, his cold touch causing goosebumps to rise on your skin.
“Up,” Hakyeon commanded softly and you followed his orders, raising your arms so he could pull your jumper off before attaching your lips together again. Your hands roamed down to the band of his sweatpants. He gasped as you pulled the elastic and then let go, snapping them back onto his skin and you hid a grin at his shocked expression. He nuzzles his face into your neck and growls playfully as you continue to laugh, his fingers tickling your sides.
After a few seconds you huffed out:“Yeonnie, my parents will be here soon, we have to make this quick!” You pretended to scold him, but you still sported a wide smile on your face. You didn’t want to rush this moment, however you did want him to cease the tickling on your sensitive skin. So your hands cupped his cheeks and pulled him in for a deep kiss. He mirrored your grin into the act of passion and pulled back after several moments, sitting up and removing his shirt as he complied to your wishes.
You gave yourself a moment to admire his lean physic, fingers running down his flat tummy before resting on his sweatpants. Hakyeon moved himself around so you could easily pull off his offending clothing and you admired his naked body on full display to you. Seeing his rigid length made you eagerly tug your jeans down and Hakyeon discarded the garment onto the floor, caressing your body from your collarbone to your thigh.
Pushing your underwear aside, Hakyeon ran his fingers between your folds, accumulating the wetness that had formed.
“There’s no time for foreplay,” you panted staring into his eyes. He nodded breathlessly as he hurriedly pulled your undies off, trying to hastily remove your bra at the same time. Unfortunately for Hakyeon, he wasn’t very coordinated today and this took longer than necessary. You laughed at him and he made a face back at you in response. Eventually Hakyeon successfully completing his task and grinned smugly before adjusting his position above you.
You moaned as you felt Hakyeon push in and he captured your lips into a kiss as he continued to slide the rest of his length inside of you. Your hips arched upwards to try and get closer to Hakyeon, fingers finding their perch just below his shoulder blades as they lightly dug into his skin. He paused several moments, allowing your body to adjust to the stretch as he looked into your eyes. It would’ve been the perfect mix of passion and love if you didn’t reach out to swipe icing from the tip of his nose. Offering Hakyeon your finger, he opened his mouth ready for the taste of strawberry to envelope his mouth. However he was left with nothing and watched as your finger took a diversion to your mouth, slurping up the icing. You giggled at his faux appalled expression and his eyes crinkled up happily in response to your contagious laughter. He locked lips with you again and his tongue explored your mouth, the faint taste of frosting still lingering.
Your tongues were still tangled as Hakyeon began to move his hips, pulling a silent cry from your lips which was captured by his mouth. The canting of his hips continued to increase in intensity and speed until it reached a moderate level, him slowing down a little so he could admire you. Sweat was beginning to form on your forehead and your eyes were lidded as you struggled to keep them open from the pleasure that you were feeling. Your heart pounded at the clear love that clouded his eyes every time he looked at you and you hoped you could convey some of how you felt back to him as you clenched your insides around him, wanting to make him feel good. He groaned out, but still fought to keep eye contact as he never wanted to take his eyes off you.
Hakyeon’s head fell from it’s position onto your shoulder, suckling on your neck as his hands picked up your legs from his sides and wrapped them around his waist, wanting to feel you more. You both moaned at the change in position and the feeling of him being that much deeper inside of you
Soon it became too much with Hakyeon’s heaving breathing against your neck and his quick but precise thrusts which got you close to your orgasm. Your end obvious from the amount of moans that involuntarily fell from your lips every time your mouth opened. Hakyeon also felt himself near his end and crashed his mouth against yours to prolong his high.
You came with your lips attached, sharing the passion that was flowing through both of your bodies. Hakyeon continued thrusting inside of you, trying to increase your pleasure as he toyed with one of your nipples, giving it a lazy kiss before exhaustion took over.
After you’d collapsed next to each other and a comfortable silence fell over the bedroom when Hakyeon pulled a blanket over the both of you, he directed your head to rest comfortably onto his chest as his fingers absent mindedly combed through your hair as you came down from your highs and basked in the glow. The sharp inhales you both took synced and eventually slowed down as you caught your breath again. Your legs were intertwined and you kept the comfortable silence between you, content with just hearing the other person breathe. A few minutes later, when you were tracing different shapes onto Hakyeon’s chest, your boyfriend decided to speak up.
“Y/n?”
You hummed in response, resting your chin on one of your hands as you tilted your head to face Hakyeon. His skin was glorious, shining with the thin layer of sweat that had formed from the strenuous activity prior and his complexion was practically glowing.
“You do know I wasn’t actually gonna eat that cupcake, right?”
You giggled when Hakyeon picked you up and carried you over the threshold, settling you back down on your feet inside the empty home. Encasing you in his arms again, he leant down and placed a soft kiss against your neck before murmuring in your ear, “We’re home, baby.”
Your heart rejoiced at the three words, and you let out a squeal, spinning around in his embrace, your eyes glistening with how bright they were. You then peppered your husband in kisses.
“Okay, as much as I would love for this to continue,” he mentioned with a chuckle when he managed to disarm you and your mouth, Hakyeon jerked his head towards the front door that he had just carried you through. “We have a lot of work ahead of us.”
“Do we have to?” you whined, although you were equally excited. You had just married Hakyeon a month ago, and now you were moving into your first home together. All these years, you had never believed you could feel this happy, this giddy. And yet here you were, standing in the empty front room to your house, with a ring on your finger and the man you loved behind you.
There was nothing more you needed in life right now. Children would definitely come, but for now, you were content with Hakyeon and this house. You wanted to imprint yourself into the floors, breathe new life into its walls and make this a home.
Full of laughter, full of love.
The mere thought had you bounding out the door and over to the car full of boxes. The excitement carried you through most of the day of lifting your smaller possessions from the car and directing the movers with your larger belongings into which room they were assigned to. And after that came the flurry of unpacking what you would need over the next few days to function, before both you and Hakyeon fell onto the couch with pure exhaustion.
The smile hadn’t been wiped from your face, though.
Pointing to the wall in front of you, you then glanced over at your husband. “Let’s hang our wedding portrait here.”
“Sounds like a good idea.”
“We should make sure to hang photos all over the place. I want the walls to feel how much we love one another.”
Hakyeon shifted so he could pull you into his arms, tugging you back down with him. “Mhmmmm.”
“I can’t wait to decorate everything!”
“Can it wait though?” he mumbled tiredly, and you turned to gaze at his half-lidded eyes and smiled once again. “I’m sleepy, and you’re planning too far ahead for what I can accomplish right now.”
“Should I order in some food and after dinner, we can head to bed early?” you offered and then sighed. “Oh. The bedding’s not put on the mattress yet.”
“Let’s nap first.”
“There’s so much to do still, Hakyeon!”
He nodded into your neck, kissing you softly. “Let’s recharge first.”
“Only for an hour,” you compromised, all too easily snuggling down into the man you loved. It didn’t take him long to fall asleep, his even breathing relaxing you in return. You glanced down at Hakyeon lovingly, stroking the side of his face gently with a hand.
“I’m so glad we are together,” you whispered, glancing around your new home and back at the man who held your heart. “There’s no other place or person I’d rather be with.”

“I could kill you right now!”
Glancing up from the stack of mail you were leafing through slowly, you bowed politely as your neighbour Hakyeon stopped momentarily beside you, his gaze darting between you and his now disappearing roommate. He chuckled. “Sorry, not you, Y/N. Your life is safe with me. Just his isn’t.”
“I’m certain you have your reasons,” you mentioned as Hakyeon nodded hastily and then took off after Wonshik.
It wasn’t uncommon for you to hear the ruckus of their bickering – whether in their apartment or not. At first, you were kind of surprised. You had never lived next to two people so loud before. Not that you were the silent type or anything.
It was just that Hakyeon and Wonshik would bicker a lot.
From dawn to dusk, you wondered if there was a time in their day where they actually got along. You could tell Hakyeon was the nagging type and Wonshik liked winding him up. Still, you didn’t understand how after a year of living next to them that they still could share the same space.
Of course, you weren’t privy to what was said most of the time. You could only hear muffled voices, and you weren’t about to press your ear to the wall separating your apartment either. But you were certain they weren’t compatible at all.
You carried your mail as you moved to the elevator and up to your floor, stepping out into the hallway before making your way to your door. You couldn’t deny that your curiosity was piqued for what Wonshik had done this time. Your steps dithered, your neck craning in direction of their door as if it would somehow lend you the ability to hear what was going on. You leapt back in fright when you heard a bang, blinking rapidly.
And then you stopped moving altogether.
“How could you do that to me?! I told you not to do that for him. What about me, huh?! You are so frustrating!”
“Ah! Hyung, ow! Stop it!”
You swallowed roughly, knowing it wasn’t your place to intervene. You had nothing to do with any of this. This thought didn’t uproot you and hurry you along to your own apartment. Instead, it had you somehow reaching out and twisting the handle to their front door.
It opened, and you stopped dead in the doorway, eyes rounding when you found the predicament of both men. For a moment you stared back at Hakyeon’s raised hand towards Wonshik’s bottom who was laying on the couch underneath him.
“Y/N, this isn’t-”
“Oh,” you breathed, backing up and wincing when you connected with the wall instead. “I’m sorry, I just – uh bye!”
Dashing around, you hurried to your apartment, fumbling to unlock the front door before bursting through it and closing it just as fast.
You hadn’t expected Wonshik and Hakyeon to be in that kind of relationship. Not that you had anything against it. They could love however or whoever they wanted to. But as you sat there contemplating the past year living here, a lot of things seemed to fall into place in your head. Your heart, however, was kind of battered.
It took you seeing both of them like that to realise your feelings towards Hakyeon were more than neighbourly. So now you had not only overstepped as someone who lived next door, but you had to deal with your feelings that had risen to the surface.
If only you hadn’t of attempted to stick your nose in where it didn’t belong.
For a week, you skirted around both Wonshik and Hakyeon. It was easier than you initially thought since you had become accustomed to their daily schedule. You simply waited an extra ten minutes in the morning to hear them both leave for work, and you had always arrived back at the apartment complex earlier than they did so you could dive into your sanctuary without bumping into them like always. You took to grabbing your mail at different points of the day and skipped the weekly residents’ meeting.
The only thing was, neither was quite as willing to let you pass on by. Whenever they knew you would be home, you would hear knocking on your front door. It was cowardly, you knew that much. Still, as you nursed your foolish self back from the ordeal, you couldn’t answer the door. You didn’t want to, in fear you would say something stupid or offensive. You already were working hard on wording the most appropriate apology.
Because they did deserve one.
And it was this apology you were thinking about as you inspected a bag of apples in the grocery store when you heard your name being called out. Turning, you stared at both Hakyeon and Wonshik like a deer caught in headlights. You decided to do what no other human would do in your situation and turned on your heel, pushing your cart with an almighty speed.
“Listen, Y/N, just stop for a second!” Wonshik called as you heard their rushed footsteps, Hakyeon soon stepping in front of your cart.
He pouted at you. “Please. Just five minutes.”
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have barged in like that; I don’t know what I was thinking. I’ll not share the news if you don’t want me to. What you both do behind closed doors is your own decision.”
“Wait, what news?” Wonshik wondered as you turned as red as the beets in the cart you stared at. “What we do behind closed doors?”
“I was right to be concerned.” Hakyeon sighed heavily and stepped over to your side. “Y/N, we’re not a couple.”
“A what?!” Wonshik screeched and then cleared his throat awkwardly when an old couple shot him a look for how loud he had been.
“But I saw you both-”
“I can understand how you would think that. Still, Wonshik has a girlfriend who lives in the complex next door.”
“You were complaining of him inconveniencing you though.”
“Ah, I gave tickets to Hakyeon’s favourite band to another friend instead since he had a better reason for them.”
Hakyeon huffed indignantly. “You always spoil Taekwoon over me.”
You were mortified. Just when would this nightmare end? Even with the knowledge, it didn’t ease you any. You had royally messed up and now and didn’t know how to recover from this.
“Can we invite you around tonight?” Hakyeon asked and you whipped your head up.
“W-Why?”
“Because we want to make it up to you.”
“It should be me!” you exclaimed. “I’m the one who jumped to conclusions and ignored you all because I wished I was more compatible and-”
You stopped then, covering your mouth to ensure you’d say nothing else.
“More compatible? You’re the best neighbour, how could you be more in sync with us?” Hakyeon mentioned, glancing in Wonshik’s direction for some sense of clarity.
The other man scrutinised you both and then smirked. “Y/N, do you want to know what Hakyeon says the most?”
“Wh-what?”
“Don’t make so much noise! You’ll annoy my Y/N!” You could sense Hakyeon’s discomfort and both of you remained silent whilst Wonshik chuckled heartily. “So maybe I should go out for the night and you two can discuss more about compatibility without me?”
Wonshik took off with their cart then and Hakyeon looked after his departure, torn between following him and staying with you. He seemed to come to some peace with his decision and smiled shyly at you. “Well, uh. About tonight, you don’t have to come over but-”
“Should I come by around six?” you shakily offered. Hakyeon smiled warmly at you and then said a quick goodbye, screaming after his friend.
Some things were never bound to change. It was just in Hakyeon and Wonshik’s nature to be loud and bicker. But that didn’t mean you couldn’t be a little hopeful to see how your bond would go with Hakyeon now that you cleared the air.
You promised yourself you wouldn’t jump to any conclusions this time.

It was Hakyeon’s favourite time of the day. For many, being up this early in the morning would seem unfathomable. Frankly, if Hakyeon didn’t have a reason to be in the studio at the crack of dawn, he wouldn’t be either. Yet he hadn’t missed a single session with you, and as he stretched his limbs to loosen up for the dance session ahead, he glanced at his image in the mirrors. He looked as excited as he felt.
When you first started dance lessons at Jellyfish, he had been dubious. Of course, he had a lot of admiration for choreographers and within his line of work; he had worked with many of them. Although Hakyeon boasted a career with a lot of self-composed dances for both his team and individual projects, he knew his artistry had been inspired by the talent of others that supported him and VIXX.
Yet you weren’t trained. You hadn’t attended any dance schools or held any credentials either. Hakyeon had wondered why management would hire such a rookie, let alone allow them to teach the idols and trainees within the company. Sure, some of his style had been self-taught but he had been serious about dance from a young age and had put in the long gruelling hours in training facilities. He probably held more certificates in dance than you did. Hakyeon had always prided himself as being someone who accepted all walks of life in improving his career. But he couldn’t fathom how someone like you could benefit him in the slightest.
“Just give Y/N one session,” Ava, his senior coordinator, suggested with a smile. “I think you’re judging too harshly before you know how good she is.”
“I’m all for self-taught styles, but inexperienced choreographers can expect too much and be the answer to injury. Do you really want any of the idols or trainees to be injured?”
Ava smiled knowingly. “I said Y/N is self-taught, not inexperienced.”
That sentence had played over in his mind all day long until he stepped into the studio where your first class was to be held. He greeted the other students in the room before stretching and warming up. By the time you arrived, Hakyeon’s curiosity was piqued. A couple of the students had mentioned they had seen someone dancing in this room earlier on and hoped they were the teacher. And when you placed your things down, he heard the excited murmurs that they were correct.
“Shall we dance?” you asked everyone in the room and smiled brightly. Hakyeon’s doubt eased the longer you smiled at everyone and he even felt himself nodding along.
By the time the class ended, he was exhausted and felt like he’d have to drag himself off to his next appointment with how gruelling it had been. You stopped him on the way out and smiled cheerfully. “I heard from Ava you weren’t expecting much. Today was just an introduction to my style so I went easy on you all. You’ll be back on Thursday, right?”
“That was easy?!” he uttered and you giggled. Something about the sweet tone of your laughter softened his shock. Hakyeon was nodding along before he realised it again. “Sure, I’ll see you on Thursday.”
Over the next month, Hakyeon had attended all the classes you held. There was something refreshing about the way you taught everyone. You were tough on technique and repetition, and he’d always leave your classes dripping of sweat. But he had noticed the improvement to his accuracy as a dancer, and he had even learned several new ways of doing difficult moves in a way that was less taxing to his body. The classes were fun, but they weren’t enough. And when you had suggested the early morning sessions on Fridays before everything else in his day, he had jumped at the chance. Even if it meant he missed out on extra sleep.
It was definitely worth it.
“Good morning, Hakyeon,” you greeted as you entered the studio, looking bright as usual. He never understood how you could radiate so much energy from the get-go. He had seen Ava in the mornings and she was definitely not as alert as you were when he met with you every Friday morning. You placed your bag down and turned to him. “I have a new routine for you. Want to give it a try once we’re warmed up?”
“Oh, did you hear about my next concept dance piece?” he wondered and you nodded enthusiastically. “Well then, what are we waiting for?”
After the warm-up, you went into great detail explaining the dance concept you had thought of, even having drawings to show him of some of the moves. You were a hands-on teacher and he could easily visualise what you had come up with before he even saw it in person. And then when you were satisfied with your explanation, you turned on the music Hakyeon had been given last week to plan his choreography to, and started to show him a loose interpretation of what you had envisioned. It was a masterpiece. He watched in awe, knowing that with his stylist moves leading the dance, the feedback from the public would be very positive.
“Let me add to it,” he mentioned confidently and for the next half an hour you both tweaked the plan until it seemed to satisfy you both.
You grinned as you sat down for a water break, reaching up to high five Hakyeon as he came to sit next to you. “We make a good team. This will be a great dance.”
“An even better one if you perform it with me.”
“What?” you asked, your eyes flashing with panic as you laughed hollowly. “Oh no, I’m the dancer behind the scenes, not the one in front of the camera.”
“You just said we make a good team,” he reminded, smiling encouragingly at you. “Y/N, you’re so talented. Sure, I disregarded your skills in the beginning from lack of knowledge but you are by far one of the best dancers I know. Come on, it’ll be fun! You can’t keep denying my requests to dance together.”
“I’m fine with dancing together with you like this. I don’t need the spotlight.”
Hakyeon frowned. “Why not?”
“Some people don’t aspire for it,” you told him and the smile you gave him was genuine. “I like helping put the pieces together but not being in the final image. That’s where you come in. You breathe life into my ideas and make them happen.”
“I can’t convince you, can I?” he asked sadly and you nudged him playfully whilst shaking your head. “So stubborn.”
“It’s called being happy with what you have, Hakyeon. Besides, if I was to go on stage then I would have to travel and commit myself to just one group.”
“And you like the diversity of other people?” he surmised and you shrugged. It made him curious. “Or do you have a fear of travelling?”
“Everyone has a weakness, mine is flying. I’ll keep my feet firmly on the ground unless I’m dancing, thanks.”
“This dance piece won’t require you to travel, though,” he persisted and you groaned, shooting him a pleading look. “There’s more to it?”
“Promise you won’t laugh.”
He zipped his mouth closed and then smiled at you reassuringly. You let out a short breath before speaking. “When I was younger, I was scouted. I was told I would have my dreams of being a talented dancer recognised. I was thrown into a school for dancing first. They said before I got to the stage, I’d have to improve and listen to others on how I needed to dance. I didn’t like that. Being on stage means I have to do what others want. Dancing is my identity and I like to be in charge of how I move my feet.”
Hakyeon was in awe by your honesty and stared at you for some time, even after you had finished talking. You shot him an awkward smile. “Why won’t you stop staring?”
“Every time I think I couldn’t admire you any more than I already do, you say something that makes me like you even more.”
You flushed with colour and got up, putting space in between you and him. You then glanced at him warily. “Like or admire?”
“Both,” Hakyeon confirmed, getting up and joining you back in front of the mirrors. He watched you through the reflection and smiled. “Does it bother you?”
“A little bit,” you admitted, your cheeks still coloured. You shook out your arms. “I worry it may affect our working relationship.”
Hakyeon dove in behind you as the music started back up, dancing expertly to the moves you had both created together. Halfway through the song, he reached for your hips and brought you closer. It was part of the dance but with the way he was watching you in the mirror, your eyes widened with surprise.
But your feet kept in sync with his.
“I don’t think it’s going to affect how we dance together, Y/N,” he said into your ear and you sighed involuntarily. “It might actually improve our connection.”
“All those weeks ago when you walked into my classroom, you doubted everything about me because I didn’t have fancy credentials. I’m wondering if I relaxed my boundaries too much around you because you were a good challenge for me.”
You spun around and faced him. Hakyeon stopped dancing and waited for you to speak. You didn’t, simply staring at him for some time. He tilted his head to the side. “Am I no longer a good challenge?”
“You’re still a challenge,” you announced softly, chewing on your bottom lip. “It’s hard for me to not make you the face of all my dances I create. It’s frustrating that I can’t picture anyone else.”
“Are we still talking about dancing?” he asked, shifting closer. You eyed his movement but didn’t choose to step back. Hakyeon reached for your neck tenderly, resting his hand on the side of your face. “Or something else?”
“You never needed private dance sessions, Hakyeon. We both know I came up with the idea so we could dance together like this, without anyone else interrupting us.”
“You don’t actually think I’d give up precious sleeping hours just to dance with you, right? I’m definitely not here every time just because I can learn moves from you.”
“What have you come to learn then?”
He leaned down and placed a soft kiss on your lips. “The Y/N behind the dance moves.”
“And what do you think of her?” you asked breathlessly, watching him avidly. “Is she worth continuing these sessions with?”
“I’m no expert in love, but I’m pretty sure we could both figure it out together.”
“Well,” you mentioned airily, stepping away from Hakyeon and going to grab your belongings. “I guess I’ll see you next Friday morning. I’ll leave it up to you what we dance to next time.”

“Hakyeon?” you called out, searching for signs of your boyfriend through the halls of the darkened building. This wasn’t funny. He had been right there and then suddenly the lights went out and you had shrieked with alarm. Being alone and now in the dark of a building you didn’t know very well scared you.
You needed to find Hakyeon immediately.
Your boyfriend had asked you to his filming spot that evening, telling you to wait until ten and then come in. You had wondered why he was so specific about the time, and left it down for his work extending that late. All the same, you followed his instructions, stepping inside and wondering why it was so quiet. He had had a full day of shooting his drama and you knew just how many people were normally on set. You hadn’t seen anyone until Hakyeon.
And now you could barely see anything.
“Did you do this?” you called out tentatively, your hands fumbling to feel along the wall. You just needed to find the exit but you couldn’t remember if you came in from the right or the left in your panicked state. “If you did, just turn the lights back on!”
Nothing.
You were shaking now and you rounded a corner of the building, relieved to see light ahead. You had stupidly left your phone in the car and you craved the illumination of anything to rid you of the shrouded darkness. Moving as quickly and as safely as you could to the light, you stopped suddenly when you came into view of an artificial flower light show. There were hundreds of flower lights in varying neon colours, and right in the middle of them was Hakyeon.
For a moment you were stunned by the display and then you remembered the torture you had just endured. You strode up to his side and he dropped to his knee right as you lifted your hand up in annoyance.
“I could punch you right now for leaving me like that! Why would you just disappear in a strange building like this?!” you cried and Hakyeon tilted his head at you, disapproving your banter. He looked around himself and then implored you silently to take a hint. You blinked a couple of times and gasped. “What are you doing on the ground?!”
“What do you think I’m doing, Y/N?” He seemed brisk, perhaps from nerves, but mostly because you were clearly interrupting something he had gone to great lengths to plan.
It dawned on you immediately why he was down on one knee then and your breath quickened.
“I’m sorry the lights went out suddenly, they weren’t all meant to go out,” Hakyeon stated, letting out a little huff of air. He then smiled. “But you found me. Much like you found me two years ago, don’t you remember?”
You nodded lightly, thinking about to the day outside your flower shop that he had stood under the awning as a storm rolled in suddenly. You had invited the soaked man inside and gave him a cup of tea to warm up with. You hadn’t known then that he would visit your store every week for a month until he finally asked you out on a date.
“You had looked out for me so genuinely and my heart from that day on knew that you were the one for me. We’ve been through a lot over the last two years, and I know we’ll travel together through many new and sometimes scary experiences. You know I won’t ever be too far from you and there to help you through anything, just like you have done for me all this time.”
You were crying as he gestured around himself with a small grin. You could see his own emotions were starting to well up in his eyes too. “I know how much you love flowers, but you’re surrounded by them every day, so I thought I’d try bringing you to a different field of flowers. Y/N, you’re the only bloom I’ll ever need in life. Will you marry me?”
You were nodding before he even finished talking and Hakyeon choked on his emotions, laughing and coughing a little as he slipped the ring he held onto your finger. You looked at the design and smiled through the veil of tears, noticing the cut of the gems to be shaped like a flower too. You had always admired how thoughtful he was over the little details in the past but you were overwhelmed by how much effort he had gone to in asking you to be his forever.
Standing up, Hakyeon nodded to someone up above and the lights of the flowers started to shift and change colours, lighting your now fiancé’s face up in a rainbow. You grinned and wrapped your arms around his neck, kissing him passionately.
He then pulled back from the kiss with a small pout. “Were you really going to hit me before?”
“I was scared,” you admitted but smiled brightly up at him, kissing him briefly again before you finished your thoughts. “But not anymore.”
