Can I talk about how much I love my Phantom of the Opera piano book? It’s probably my favorite thing to play of my entire collection. I’ve had it since I was a kid. It’s now 20 years old, and it has fared far better than many music books half its age. The binding is superb; the pages are thick and glossy. 

Adaptations for solo piano sometimes feel like an afterthought, if not little more than accompaniment to the vocal arrangements, but these are gorgeous. The included songs translate well to piano--with the exception of, perhaps, “Masquerade,” which I think loses much of its fullness of sound. But more importantly, the pieces are fun to play. Twenty years later, and I still haven’t tired of them. The included photo spreads are a nice bonus. :)

I’m curious as to whether the publishing quality has held up over the years. Is it still as good as ever?
