Hey, do you (or any of your followers) know what story I'm thinking of? Pre-war Steve/Bucky, slow burn, and the distinguishing detail I remember is that Bucky worked in a restaurant as a waiter and sorta had a thing going with another guy who worked there before he and Steve figured things out. I had it conflated with "Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen" b/c of the Great Sexuality Crisis tagline--oops--so now I can't tell if I didn't bookmark it or if (oh noes!) it's been deleted. Thanks!

Summary:

Bucky’s been pulled out of a living nightmare by his suddenly-much-larger best friend. He can’t remember everything that happened in the lab, and that might be worse than being sure.

Steve has rescued his best friend and nearly four hundred other men from a Hydra facility, destroying it on the way out. He’s also just learned that the most amazing woman he’s ever met is apparently dating a brilliant inventor.

On the march back from Azzano, they each learn the other one’s hurting.

Tags: Rated Teen for canon-typical violence and mentions of sad or traumatic things that happen in canon. Steve gets de-serumed (sort of) and is pretty sick for a lot of the story.  That said, this is ultimately meant to be an uplifting and happy story.

Relationships: Steve/Bucky, Tony/Pepper (established).

Word count: 152K.

Summary: A Civil War fix-it, of a kind, in which Shuri and Wanda cleared Bucky's head after the events of Civil War and Black Panther and he and Steve went on the run. 

When a group of rogue scientists manage to neutralize the serum and make Steve very sick--pre-serum "this is bad" kind of sick--and they're cut off from contact with Wakanda, Bucky knows only one person with resources to help: he calls Tony and surrenders on the condition that Tony tries to help Steve. That’s not comfortable for anyone. Add in the fact that Bucky's been secretly in love with Steve since the thirties, and it’s obvious why it’s easier to be the heroes than the people underneath. 

From there, all three of them find their way from "This Is Fine" to actually being fine--guest-starring a teenage boy who climbs walls, a 1960 Ford Thunderbird, two women with a keen sense of the absurd, and Bruce, the Zen master of “it’s fine that it’s not fine.”

Minor changes

Hey fanfic-related followers and people I follow!

So, I had an *old* Tumblr, associated with a different e-mail address, that I don’t use much anymore, that was called “Halbereth.” Some people tried to follow me there because that’s my Ao3 account. This was confusing for everyone. I also have two Tumblr accounts associated with THIS e-mail address: a general/artsy/non-fandom one (which was, until 30 seconds, ago, writing-at-random-blog) and this: histrionic-dragon, the fanfic-related one. That was also confusing, because (a) neither of those is my Ao3 name and (b) the non-fandom-related one was the primary, so that’s what I follow people as, but I reblog them as histrionic-dragon. Not ideal!

I did some url juggling and now the main blog on this account is Halbereth, like my Ao3. It’s still not the fandom-focused account (that’s this one, histrionic-dragon; no changes there) but it’s the primary account, which means it’s the one that will show up as following people or messaging them, and that will at least give some sense of continuity between Ao3 and here.

Quite likely no one cares--but if you’re confused who this random person suddenly liking your stuff is, well, that’s the story.

The best thing about my life (other than my phone, which I never pay attention to) is kittens! If I had to choose one single thing that would make my life complete, I'd say having kittens is it. And although I've never bought one as a kitten (a cute little thing, not the cute cute I posted about earlier), I do wish I could buy a kitten for myself. I mean, there aren't a lot of people on the planet who have them!
