a known problem in older games was that when a value is in someway exploited and ends up getting to a too high variable, it will loop back to the lowest variable

so

If Brightness=X; Sanity=-99.99

so if my fake light shining through a colissionless wall theory is right, that super light was a means to keep his sanity variable low, he just made it too high, IE raising Ghandi's affininty too high in Civ 5

so then the variable went to the next highest as there was no lower
