So, half dragons appear to be looked down upon and feared by the humans of TSSW and the Elves (or at least the ones Daelynn's village) seemed passive towards them, so I was wondering... how to the actual dragons view half dragons? Is there like a hierarchy sorta thing where whoever their dragon parent was decides how the others may view them with half dragons with more power parents being viewed in a better standing or are they just indifferent towards them? ... if not too spoilery ❤
....
SUPER SPOILERY ASK!
But I will say...that half-dragons are a relatively new thing, and most Dragons are unsure how to deal with them.
Like, the hybrids are at the bottom of the social hierarchy FOR NOW. But they have the potential to reach the very top.
So if you disrespected a half-dragon who then makes it big...
So this was something I was thinking about for a while, (2 days really) just doing negative space art shit just for my other Mc Prince for the amazing @aregularnewyorklife, man that I gotta move on. I was going to do DS on the background looking like a mad scientist and shit but yyeaaahhh things change. Also I don't I think i should of made him green dragonish, fffuuuck. Lmao Im now seeing flaws already it but oh well. (Scales!!!!!!) Okay I didn't think pants would look nice.
Okay so Prince a is a Tall half Dragon asshole. Kinda wants to be like Yomiel. Yikes.
He's formal, polite, stoic and looks like he's always comfortable while working in investigating.( but he's emotionally wreck because he always feel awkward about his strange life) may look like a thug but he's got his morals right but only because he likes the idea of him being a knight in shining armor.
Unlike Amias however Prince and DS are like awkward Dragon weirdos, but Prince is like the kind of son who would do anything to have their parents be proud of them. (If Prince ever meets Amias he'll be super envious about how close they are to DS, like he be a jerk to Amias and making things worse)
Yeah he smokes but I mean the boy gotta look like a badass.
Chapter 15: That Final Moment of Peace
As the portal closed behind Titus, he wondered if he had made the right decision allowing Drake to spend the night in the dragon realm. The knowledge that Theian was in the dragon realm made Titus uneasy, especially with Drake still there. He knew his parents would protect Drake but who would be protecting them?
Before he opened the door, Titus looked to the sky. He watched as the clouds slowly rolled by. It was relaxing. As he watched the clouds, he remembered back when Drake was only five. They would go sit in the backyard and just watch the sky. Titus also remembered back to when he himself was just a child. He, Ben and Ben’s dad would also watch the clouds. Titus smiled to himself. He hoped that when, or if he and everyone else came back, he, Ben and Drake could just sit outside and watch the clouds together. Just like old times.
Titus knocked on the door. As soon as the door opened, Sarah wrapped her arms around Titus, giving him a big hug.
“Welcome home.” Sarah smiled.
“Good to be home.” Replied Titus, as he gave Sarah a kiss and walked into the house.
As Titus walked into the living room, Sarah was about to shut the door. But just as she was, she looked outside and noticed no sign of Drake nor Titus’ parents.
“Titus, where’s Drake?” Sarah asked.
“What?” Titus called out from the living room.
“Drake! Our son! Where is he?”
“Drake is going to be staying with my parents tonight.” Titus explained.
“In the dragon realm? After what happened to you two? What if those dragons go after Drake?” Asked Sarah, scared and worried for the safety of their only son.
“Sarah, he’s not a baby anymore…” Titus said softly.
“He’s not a baby but he’s still a little boy! Don’t you think after what happened at the mall, he should be home with us!” Sarah exclaimed.
At that moment, Titus’ eyes widened. He remembered every horrifying moment. From watching Jake ruthlessly beat up Drake, to Titus himself pleading tearfully for Theian not to kill Drake…
An eerie silence befell the room. Unable to say anything, Titus simply headed upstairs.
“I’m going to call everyone over now…” Was all he said.
Quietly and slowly, Titus walked upstairs and closed the door to his and Sarah’s room. He sat on the side of the bed, trying to make sense of what to do. Maybe Sarah had a point. Titus knew Drake was capable of taking care of himself but was he really ready for this? He took off his shoes and lay on his bed, trying to figure out whether or not it would be a good idea for Drake to come. All the while he pondered over it, eventually he fell asleep.
Later that day, Titus had called over his family and friends. They were all gathered in the living room as Sarah prepared snacks for everyone.
“You feelin’ better after getting out of the hospital?” Jackie asked.
“Much better.” Titus replied, smiling.
“So what’s up, Titus?” Ben asked.
As Sarah set the snacks on the table, Titus began to explain his reason for asking everyone to his house.
“Everyone, the reason I asked you guys to come here is because after tomorrow, that’s when we go after Saulstrance!” Titus explained.
“Alright but why after tomorrow?” Kyle asked.
“Well I figure that way, we can, you know, say goodbye to friends, co-workers, et cetera as well as finish up any last minute stuff.”
“I think that’s a good idea. That way, we can also figure out if we’re really ready for this.” Added Lucas.
“Awright! Let’s do it!” Exclaimed Sean and Tim.
“Hey, only the grownups get to say that!” Lucas teased.
Just as everyone was heading out the door, Titus walked up to Ben.
“Ben?” Titus asked.
“What’s up?”
“I need you to do me a favor…”
Meanwhile, at Drake’s school, Crystal sat on the edge of a slide, just gazing out, her mind not truly focused on anything. She held a popsicle in her hand as it started to melt. Not paying any mind to it, she continued to simply stare off into space. Soon after, her attention was caught when she heard footsteps behind her. She turned around to see who it was.
“Drake!” Crystal exclaimed.
“Hey, Crystal.” Drake greeted with a smile.
“You idiot! Don’t sneak up on me like that! You scared me!” Crystal yelled at Drake.
“Whoa, Crystal! Take it easy! I didn’t sneak up on you!” Drake said.
As soon as Crystal calmed down, Drake took a seat right next to her.
“Sorry about that, Drake. Is everything OK?” Asked Crystal.
“Yeah. I just wanted to see you one last time…” Said Drake as his tone became more serious.
“What do you mean?”
“We’re leaving tomorrow…”
“To go fight that Saulstrance guy, right?” Crystal asked.
Drake nodded.
“Oh…” Crystal said sadly.
Drake turned his head and looked towards his school. His attention was brought back to Crystal as he heard her start to sniffle.
“Crystal, what’s wrong?” Drake asked worriedly.
“It’s…it’s…” Crystal began to say as she started to cry. “I just wish you didn’t have to go! Or at least that I could come with you!”
Drake felt real bad for Crystal. He got to his feet and gave Crystal a hug. Crystal buried her head on Drake’s shoulder as she continued to cry.
“Crystal…I promise I’ll come back. Me and Sean. We’re gonna come back to you. Then the three of us can hang out as much as we want. Okay?” Drake said warmly.
Crystal nodded. She wiped away her tears, Drake’s promise to her making her feel a little bit better.
Still sniffling, Crystal continued to rub her eyes.
“Drake thanks. You’re the best friend I ever had.” Crystal smiled, her voice still a little strained.
“Umm, Crystal, there’s something I wanted to tell you.” Drake said.
“Yeah?” Crystal replied.
“I…” Drake began to say.
Drake tried to bring himself to finish his sentence. Unfortunately for him, nervousness had gotten the better of him. He could feel his heart beating at a mile a minute. Beads of sweat began to trickle down his face as he tried his best to tell Crystal what he had to say.
“What’s wrong, Drake?” Crystal asked.
“I…I l-l uh…”
“Hmm?”
“C-Crystal…wha…what I’m trying to say is…” Drake stuttered.
“C’mon, Drake! Just say it!” Drake thought to himself.
“I…I…I LOVE YOU!!!” Drake shouted at the top of his lungs.
Shocked, Crystal just stared at Drake, unsure of what to say. She started to blush as her heart beat faster.
“Well, I should probably go. My grandparents are waiting for me.”
Just before Drake headed off, Drake walked up to Crystal and gave her another hug. In addition he also gave her…a kiss! This just made Crystal blush even more.
“…Bye, Crystal…” Drake said sadly as he ran from the playground.
By the time Drake was out of sight, Crystal whispered to herself:
“I love you too, Drake… See you…”
As Drake made his way from the school, he looked back one last time. He hoped he would be able to keep his promise to Crystal in that he and Sean would both come back.
Drake walked down the street. As he neared the end of the street, he found his grandparents standing on the corner waiting for him.
“Ready to go?” Drake’s grandpa asked.
“Yeah…” Drake said, still sad.
“Drake, you really love that girl, don’t you?” Asked Drake’s grandma.
“…Yeah. I’m gonna miss her…” Drake sniffled.
His grandparents gave Drake a hug. They assured him that he would see Crystal again. Quickly, they looked around, making sure no one was nearby. Then they opened the portal and stepped through. Drake took one more look back, then walked through the portal as well, the portal closing behind him.
Meanwhile, Lucas and his sons paid a visit to a graveyard. They sat in front of a gravestone that read: “In loving memory of Maria Lloyd: June 10th, 1993- August 18th, 2019. Sister, Devoted Mother, Friend”
“Hi, Maria.” Lucas greeted. “It’s Luke. I brought Sean and Tim too.”
Lucas glanced over to his sons. “Go on, kids. Say hi to your mom.” He said.
Sean kneeled a little closer to his mom’s grave.
“Hi, mom. It’s Sean. We wanted to come see you ‘cause tomorrow, we’re gonna help Drake’s dad fight this evil dragon!” Sean exclaimed.
“Yeah! So you gotta watch us, ok? We’re gonna help Drake and Uncle Titus beat those bad guys good!” Tim added.
Lucas chuckled. “Okay, kids. You go wait in the car. I want to talk to your mom alone.”
“Alright! Bye mom!” Sean and Tim shouted.
The brothers raced back to the car. Lucas chuckled to himself. Watching Sean and Tim play together reminded him of when he and Titus were just boys.
“Y’know, Maria, Sean’s been taking really good care of his little brother. I can see why. Tim never got to see you once. I think, in his own way, Sean is trying to be both a brother and a surrogate parent to Tim.”
Lucas glanced at his sons. They were playing some kind of game by the car. Tim on the left side of the car, Sean on the other. Tim tried to get to the other side but Sean would poke his head over wherever Tim would be. It was a simple game yet Lucas knew they got some enjoyment out of it. He smiled as he watched his sons play together. He hoped that after this was all over, he would continue to watch his sons having fun.
“Maria, do me a favor, will you?” Lucas asked.
“While the three of us go with Titus and his family to fight Saulstrance…please watch over the boys. Can you do that for me?”
Lucas stood up, put his hand on Maria’s gravestone and said his goodbyes. He got into his car as he and the kids waved goodbye to Maria and drove off for home.
At his fraternity, Kyle sat on the couch, a cold beer in hand. He didn’t drink it, instead just sitting on the couch, his mind focused on other stuff.
“Hey, what’s up, Kyle? You haven’t even had a sip of beer.” Said one of Kyle’s fraternity brothers.
“Yeah. I’ve just been thinking lately.” Kyle replied.
“About what?”
Just as Kyle was about to tell his frat brother, another of the brothers came up to Kyle.
“Hey, Kyle, did you see the news report about the mall?” He asked.
“Yeah.”
“Well I was thinking. They said the rescue squad only found an eleven year old kid and his dad, unconscious amongst the rubble. What were their names? Titus and Drake Flamel I think it was?”
“And? What are you getting at?” Kyle asked curiously.
“Well I remember last week your sister came to visit you. She was with a little kid and a grown man.” He continued on.
“Can you just ask me what you wanna ask?” Kyle asked, growing impatient.
“Sheesh! Well alright. You’re related to those two, aren’t you? “The frat boy asked.
“I am. Drake’s my younger cousin. His dad’s my uncle.” Kyle explained.
“Thought so…”
The frat boy swung his arm around Kyle, a wide grin on his face.
“Your uncle and cousin are seriously COOL! “ He exclaimed.
“So, Kyle. What’s up with your cousin? I mean in the news, he had a tail. Is it supposed to be like a birth defect or something?” Another one of Kyle’s frat brothers asked.
“No, no! That’s not it. ‘Sides, you guys wouldn’t believe the reason for his tail even if I told you.” Kyle replied.
Soon the whole house was in an uproar as the brothers hoarded around Kyle, eager for him to tell them. He explained that Drake’s dad was a dragon, and that Drake was part dragon and part human. The entire house just stood there, mouths hanging open. Kyle was right. It was hard for them to believe. He also told them how he, Drake, Titus and the rest of their family would be going after the ones who destroyed the mall.
“You’re nuts, dude! You saw what those guys did to the mall! No way your cousin and uncle can kick their asses!” One of the frat brothers exclaimed.
“Don’t you believe in them?” Kyle asked.
“Well yeah! It’s just- -“
“Hey, I have an idea. What about this?” Kyle asked again.
“If I come back alive, then I’ll stop drinking. And if I die…then you can remove me from the fraternity.” Kyle proclaimed.
At that moment, Kyle’s frat brothers began to crackup. The entire fraternity was soon in an uproar.
“Kyle, you idiot! If you’re dead, you can’t be part of the fraternity anyway!” One of the brothers laughed heartily.
“’Sides, you not drinking ever again? Puh-lease! We know that’d be a cold day in hell if that happened!” Teased another of the brothers.
Kyle laughed with them. “Okay, okay. If I come back, I’ll only drink twice a day.”
“Alright! We’re holding you to that!” They all said at once.
While Kyle and his friends laughed and partied, Jackie had gone to pay her parents a visit. She figured that if this was the last moment before the day they go after Saulstrance, she would want to spend it with her parents.
“You know, I was really thinking that Kyle would be here…” Jackie said, agitated.
“Oh, give your poor brother a break, Jackie. You’re starting to sound more like his mom than I am.” Jessie said.
“Sorry. Some of the things he does get on my nerves though. You know what I mean, mom?”
“Jackie, your brother’s only human! He’s not perfect.” Ben said.
“You know, when you two were kids, you were really close to Kyle. You always stood up for him when kids would pick on him. You two always played together. What changed all that?”
Jackie sighed. “Aside from growing up? I don’t know, dad…I just don’t wanna see Kyle make an idiot out of himself. I still love him. I don’t love what he’s doing to himself though.”
“That’s why he needs his family to show him they don’t want him to drink so often. But he won’t stop if you nag at him so much, Jackie.” Jessie explained.
“Well then. When we come back from this, I promise I’ll stop nagging him so much.” Said Jackie.
Just then, a knock came from the door. Jackie opened the door, surprised to see that it was Kyle!
“Kyle?!” Said Jackie in shock.
“Hey, Sis.” Kyle replied.
Jackie gave Kyle a hug as their parents walked towards the door.
“Kyle.” Ben smiled.
“Hi, Mom. Hi, Dad.”
Both Jessie and Ben hugged Jackie and Kyle, just as they had back when they were just children. For that moment, no words were spoken…
That night, Titus and Sarah sat outside together as they had dinner consisting of pizza, and some soda. Titus looked up at the sky. He wondered how Drake was doing in the dragon realm.
“Hey, Sarah?” Titus asked.
“Yeah?” She replied.
“I’ve been thinking…”
“About what?” Asked Sarah.
“Well, I talked to Ben before everybody left. I asked him if he and Jessie would watch Drake for us when we go.” Titus explained.
“What?! Why?!” Sarah exclaimed, not understanding Titus’ reasons in the slightest.
“Well, I remembered what you said when I got home. About Drake still being a child and probably not being ready for this… that made me think ‘Maybe Sarah’s right. Maybe it would be best for Drake to stay behind.’”
Sarah sighed in annoyance. “You really don’t know Drake at all, do you?”
“What?”
“Titus, Drake loves you! He looks up to you! Why do you think he put himself in danger when you guys fought those dragons?! He could have run away, but he stayed to help you! You’d probably be dead if he wasn’t there that day!” Sarah exclaimed.
Titus was at a loss for words. Deep down, he knew Sarah was right. About everything. But he was still skeptical about bringing Drake along. He thought he would just let Drake decide on whether he wants to go or not but Titus already knew what his son’s answer would be.
“You said it yourself, Titus. Drake isn’t a baby anymore. Besides, unlike me or Ben or Lucas. Or anyone else, Drake can actually help you fight Saulstrance and his men.” Sarah said.
“Drake was given his powers for a reason! You were born a dragon for a reason. And I think I finally understand why. You were both given your powers so that you could stop Saulstrance and save the human and dragon realms!” Sarah continued.
With Sarah’s little speech, Titus began to feel more confident about bringing Drake along. He realized it wouldn’t be fair to Drake who, like Titus himself, had been through a lot to get to where they are. Even almost dying in the process.
Titus sighed. “Okay. You’re right. Drake can come with us. After all, he has been through a lot too.”
Titus and Sarah got back to eating their dinner. That night, everything was peaceful. For Titus and the others, it felt strange. This may have been the most peaceful moment they could have asked for since it all began. However, it was merely the calm before the storm, as elsewhere, dark plans were brewing… For in an alleyway of a small town, Saulstrance’s followers discussed their next course of action.
“That’s too bad…I guess Doulstraz and his kid really are dead then.” Girido said, taking on his human form.
With Girido was everyone who was present at the destruction of the mall. Alex, Jake, Theian, Eig’nia…yet oddly enough, there was another with them…
The mysterious man laughed mockingly at Girido.
“What are you laughing about?” Girido asked angrily.
“Sir Theian told me that you lost to Doulstraz. It just makes me laugh.”
Girido growled in annoyance. “You just keep flapping your yap, Rikai! At least I’m not an agent for Theian!”
Theian, also taking a human form, stood up and grabbed Girido by the shirt.
“And is that a bad thing?” Theian said in his usual cold voice.
Girido gave no answer. Intimidated by Theian, he simply let out a sigh. Theian loosened his grip on Girido and threw him against the alley’s walls.
“Will you two stop bickering?!” A voice called out from the shadows. “We’re not here to fight one another.”
The voice continued. “Theian…you were the one who fought Doulstraz at the mall, right?”
Theian nodded. “And I guess you’re mad at me for his death?”
“Not at all, actually. In fact, it makes me a little happy. Because now we can finally execute our main goal.”
“Ah yes. So we’re finally going to begin creating your kingdom.” Eig’nia said.
The person stepped out from the shadows, revealing himself to be Saulstrance! He, like his followers, took on his human form.
“I’ve had it with just sitting around. With Doulstraz dead, no one can stop us. We’ll begin by first taking over this little town.”
“How will we do it though?” Eig’nia asked.
“We’ll split into two groups. One group will set up a diversion. They will begin destroying this town. Meanwhile, the other group will begin to round up the humans. With the humans in a frenzy, that will make them easier to capture. Their minds will be in too much of a panic.” Saulstrance explained.
“Theian, Girido and Eig’nia, you three will start a diversion. Begin destroying the buildings within the area. This will cause the town’s population into a mass hysteria. At which point, me, Rikai, Alex and Jakol will secure the exits to the town as we begin capture.”
With the plan set, Saulstrance and the others made their way to the outskirts of town as not to draw immediate attention. Eig’nia, Theian and Girido switched into their dragon forms, opened their wings, and flew high above the town. The three dragons took to three different directions, Eig’nia taking the west side of town while Girido secured the north side and Theian on the south side. They shot fireballs from their mouths as they fell towards the unsuspecting town below, colliding into three different buildings. The townspeople began to panic.
“Now!” Saulstrance exclaimed.
Alex and Jake turned into their half-dragon forms as Saulstrance and Rikai turned back into dragons. They flew for the town. As they hovered above the town, they noticed the citizens trying to escape while Eig’nia and her group continued destroying buildings. Saulstrance let out a jetstream of fire which blocked the south side of town, lighting three people on fire who were unfortunate enough to be standing under Saulstrance’s fire. The other dragons quickly secured the other exits as Saulstrance, Alex and Jake flew down into the panicking town.
“Listen up!” Saulstrance commanded.
“I am Saulstrance. And for those of you wondering, yes, I am a dragon. I will also soon be the one who rules this world. You privileged humans have had the honor of being my first subjects. Now all I ask is that you all get in a series of single file lines. Try anything, and you will die.”
Just then, a man, armed with a hunting rifle, came out of one of the buildings that had not been destroyed. He aimed his gun at Saulstrance.
“I don’t give a rat’s ass who you are. You’re not gonna destroy my town any- -“
But before he could finish, he felt something go through his stomach. He looked down, noticing what looked like a lizard’s paw, sticking out of his gut.
“Wow, Alex!” Eig’nia exclaimed in amazement.
Without so much of a word, Alex removed his paw from the man’s gut as he fell to the ground in a puddle of his blood. Alex’s dragon’s paw turned back into a normal human hand.
“Sorry, Lord Saulstrance.” Said Alex.
“Not at all. That’s a perfect example of what will happen to those who defy me!”
In no more than a mere night, an entire town’s population of 436 had disappeared. All that remained was a town, its buildings all but destroyed. Some of which had even been burned down to the ground. Time was running out. At this point, the only one who would even have a chance of stopping Saulstrance and his intentions was Titus…
Chapter 12: Those Who Follow Saulstrance
Unfurling his wings, Drake took to flight, hovering four feet above his father and Girido. Titus ran straight for Girido, Girido doing the same which caused the two dragons to headbutt each other. They both stood in place, heads locked as both struggled to overcome the other. Drake watched from the air as his father was pushed back and began to lose his footing. Girido was gaining the upper hand on Titus. Realizing this, Drake swooped down to the battlefield, propelling himself towards Girido, his fists clenched as he raised his right arm and punched Girido in the eye. The dragon roared in pain as blood started to ooze from the eye that Drake had attacked. Drake didn’t understand. Why was Girido’s eye bleeding if all he did was punch him? Then as soon as he looked at his hands, he noticed that they had…CLAWS and were covered in the same blue scales as his wings and tail!
“Wh-what…the?!” Drake stuttered, confused and scared.
From his now scaly fingers grew ten claws, five for each hand. They had not completely overtaken the tips of his fingers but rather looked like longer, thicker, white fingernails. Drake’s attention turned from the battle to his hands. He wondered how he had suddenly grew claws. His train of thought was quickly disrupted however as he witnessed his father toss Girido back, crashing into a store behind him. Rubble and debris fell on top of Girido, covering him from head to tail.
Drake rushed over to his father .
“Are you okay, dad?” Drake asked, concerned.
“I’ll be okay.” Titus said, panting.
“Is he…dead?” Asked Drake.
“Doubt it. Huh?” Replied Titus as he turned to his son, noticing the claws that were growing from his fingertips and the scales that were covering his arms.
“Drake, what happened to your fingers and your arms?!”
Unfortunately, Drake did not have an answer. He himself wasn’t even sure what was happening to him.
“Grandma and Grandpa might know what’s happening to you, Drake. We’ll ask them when we get back home. But right now, let’s get out of here.” Said Titus as he reverted back to his human form.
As Titus and Drake headed for the exit, they heard something moving from amongst the debris. They turned their attention to the area where Titus had sent Girido crashing in to. They watched as slowly, Girido got back on his feet, the debris and wreckage falling off of his body as he rose to his feet. He shook his head then turned his attention to the father and son duo.
“To think that some half-dragon filth like you would so much as THINK of touching my face! No less stabbing me in the eye! I’ll pay you back for that, you brat!” Shouted Girido angrily as he swung his tail, sending it crashing with full force into the ground.
Titus stepped in front of Drake and turned back into a dragon. He flew into the sky and shot a fireball at Girido. Likewise, Girido took to flight and shot a fireball of his own straight at Titus. Titus swooped down below Girido, then, as soon as he was directly under him, flew straight up and headbutted Girido in the chest, causing the dragon even more pain. With Girido stunned, Titus flew above him then whacked Girido with his tail, sending him back down to earth. Titus flew back down and landed right in front of Girido, who was now struggling to his feet, angrier than ever.
“All because of that little brat. If it weren’t for him, you’d be dead!!!” Shouted Girido.
Girido let out a roar of anger and got back to his feet. He rushed towards Titus again who, just like last time, headbutted Girido and sent him flying into another store. Titus walked over to the dragon. Girido lay in the wreckage, too weak to move.
“Beaten by a traitor dragon. That makes me sick…” Girido said weakly.
Titus stared at the beaten dragon. Drake walked over to his father, his wings and tail retreating back into his body while his finned ears became normal human ears.
“I wanted to ask you something. What do you mean by ‘traitor dragon’?” Asked Titus.
Girido chuckled mockingly at Titus’ question.
“I’ve told you before…it’s what we who follow Saulstrance call you. Not just for nearly killing him but also for living among humans for your whole life.”
“I live with these humans because they’re my friends and family. Not every dragon is like you or Saulstrance. Some happen to like humans. My friend, Angela never hated humans. She even lived as a human while she was taking care of me!” Titus said.
Girido gave no response.
“I have one more question: What is Saulstrance planning this time? Why would he wait for me at Death Valley? I doubt he just wants to fight me.” Asked Titus.
Before any answer could be given, Titus and Drake heard the sounds of flapping wings overhead. Their attention turned to the sky as they saw two more dragons flying straight over them and landing right before the exit to the mall. Two kids hopped off the dragon’s backs. Drake looked in shock as he realized who one of the kids was.
“Jake!” Drake exclaimed.
Titus got one look at the kids and the dragons. He noticed that one of the kids bared similarities to Saulstrance in his human form. His hair was reddish with bangs that nearly covered his eyes. The other boy appeared slightly older than Jake. His hair was relatively longer than Jake’s as it barely covered his ears.
“That’s Jake?” Asked Titus.
“Jake! Where’ve you been?! What’s going on?!” Drake asked.
Jake did not respond. He turned away from Drake and stared at the ground. Even at only eleven years old, Drake knew something was wrong with Jake.
“Jake, are you mad because I pushed you?” Drake asked once again.
Jake still gave no answer, his attention still to the ground.
“I’m sorry, Jake. I am. I didn’t mean to push you! I--”
But before Drake could finish his sentence, one of the dragons interrupted.
“This is a sight. Girido lost to the traitor dragon. Good job, Doulstraz, on defeating Girido, even though he is the weakest of us dragons.” The dragoness said smugly. Her silver scales shimmered in the sunlight.
Girido growled angrily.
“Shut up, Eig’nia! If it wasn’t for his kid, I woulda won! Besides, why are all of you here anyway?”
“We’re here to make sure you were able to obtain some humans for Lord Saulstrance. As it appears, not only were you unsuccessful in obtaining even a single human, but you were also defeated at the hands of none other than Doulstraz and his son. “
“We-Well I was able to kill about 20 humans.” Girido stated.
“Those humans were to be a gift for Lord Saulstrance. You’re very lucky I’m so nice. I won’t inform Lord Saulstrance of your failure. You’re also lucky that he didn’t require us to gather any humans just yet. If he had decided to set his plans into motion, you would be dead.”
Eig’nia turned her attention to Drake and noticed his fingers which still had claws growing out of them.
“So, you’re a half-dragon. Just like Lord Jakol and Alex.”
Just like Drake, Alex closed his eyes as two wings and a tail grew from his back. It was just as Eig’nia said: This boy was a half-dragon as well, just like Jakol and Drake!
“I guess we should introduce ourselves.” Said Eig’nia.
“You already know Girido. My name is Eig’nia.”
“I am Theian.” Said the blue dragon standing behind Eig’nia.
“I’m Alex.” The half-dragon boy said.
“And this is Jakol. The only child of Lord Saulstrance.”
Eig’nia turned her attention from Titus to Girido. “You know, Girido.” She began to say. “We won’t inform Lord Saulstrance of your defeat by Doulstraz. But it looks like we’ll have to finish your fight for you.” She said, angrily.
Eig’nia’s attention changed back to Titus and Drake. But before she could raise a single claw, she was halted by Theian.
“Eig’nia, if it’s alright, I’d prefer to finish this.” Said Theian.
“Go ahead.”
Theian opened his wings and took to the sky, Titus doing the same. In what seemed like a blur, Theian flew straight at Titus, swiping Titus with his claws across his face. Titus roared in pain as Theian rose higher into the sky and zoomed back down, smacking Titus with his tail which sent Titus plummeting back down to Earth. Theian, likewise, flew back down and landed. Titus struggled back to his feet, only to be smacked once more by Theian’s tail and sent hurtling into another store.
“Dad!” Drake exclaimed as he ran over to his father, giving him a nudge.
Titus moved from amongst the remains of the destroyed store. He stood back up as Drake wrapped his arms around his father’s neck, giving him a big hug. Drake noticed as Theian walked closer to the two of them, his eyes filled with anger. Something about Theian scared Drake even more than Girido. He seemed…different than Girido and the others. Whereas Girido almost seemed to enjoy fighting Titus and Drake, Theian was completely ruthless, not allowing Titus to get a single hit in.
Theian dashed towards Titus. Titus shot a wave of fire from his throat which spread from where Eig’nia, Jake and Alex were standing, to a nearby clothing store. Smoke and ashes began to rise from the flames and cover both Drake and Titus like a shield. Soon it was too hard to see the father and son duo as the smoke and ash became too heavy and thick to see. From the fire the sound of flapping wings could be heard. Theian turned his attention to where the sound came from as he noticed something shoot up into the sky, expecting it to be Titus. Instead it turned out to be Drake! Before Theian could turn his attention back to the fire, Titus ran through the flames, bashing into Theian and knocking him off his feet.
“Awesome! Ya got him, dad!” Drake cheered.
“It’s thanks to you, Drake!” Shouted Titus.
Drake flew back down and ran over to his father. He glanced over at Eig’nia and Alex, noticing that Jake was missing. He looked up and saw Jake, flying overhead as he swooped down, landing right in front of Drake and Titus. Drake jumped back as Jake landed.
“Drake…” Jake began to say.
“Y-yeah?” Drake asked nervously.
“You hate me, don’t you?” Jake asked, his sad, sorrowful eyes meeting with Drake’s.
“What! No! I don’t hate you!” Drake exclaimed.
“Dad said you pushed me because you hate me! Because I’m his son!” Jake exclaimed as tears started to flow from his eyes.
“Jake! I’m sorry! I didn’t mean—“
“Shut up!” Jake shouted as he punched Drake in the face, knocking him to the ground.
“All I wanted was to be your friend!” Jake exclaimed, still shouting as he continued to punch Drake.
Drake made no effort to fight back. Titus watched in shock as his son just lay there, taking punch after punch. Soon he noticed as tears began to trickle down Drake’s face as well. Soon after, Jake stopped punching Drake as he tried to catch his breath. He stood back up and wiped the tears from his eyes. Drake still made no movement whatsoever as tears flowed endlessly from his eyes. His face was badly bruised as some blood even dripped from his nose. Jake stood there, silently as he watched Drake cry. Then he turned around and walked back to join Eig’nia and Alex.
“Jakol?” Alex asked.
Jake gave no response. Instead he simply walked past them, his head held low as his bangs covered his eyes. Everyone’s attention was turned to Jake, even Titus’. Jake just stood there, motionless, his head still to the ground. Titus turned his attention from Jake over to Drake, who was still lying on the ground. He lowered his head and nuzzled up against Drake. Drake slowly raised his arms and put them around his father’s snout, hugging him tightly as he continued to cry. Both Titus and Drake were sent flying as Titus was once more stuck by Theian. When Titus had realized what had just happened, he looked over to Drake, who was now laying by his side, unconscious. Slowly and weakly, Titus struggled to stand up. He took two steps towards Theian and collapsed to the ground, body too weak, unable to fight. At that moment, Titus began to remember all the fun times he had spent with his family and friends. The time he spent in the human realm, the time he spent with his parents in the dragon realm as he learned how to shift between being a human and a dragon, the time he spent with Drake as they both bonded, and even the time he spent with Angela…
With Theian walking closer towards Titus, he struggled to raise his head.
“Theian, wait…” Titus said weakly.
“What?” Answered Theian.
“If you’re gonna kill me, all I want is that you at least let Drake live...please…he’s just a little kid…” Titus said as a tear ran down his face.
“Why should I listen to the one responsible for Angela’s death?!” Theian exclaimed.
“What!” Titus thought to himself.
Just as Theian prepared himself to deliver the final blow, he was stopped by none other than Jake.
“Wait, Theian! Don’t forget, my dad wants to fight Doulstraz himself.”
Theian growled but pulled back and walked over to Eig’nia and the others.
“Wait! What did you mean, Theian?! That I was responsible for Angela’s death?!” Titus called out.
Theian said nothing and continued to walk towards the other dragons. Titus kept calling out for Theian to wait. Unable to keep his head up for much longer, Titus’ head dropped to the ground. Eventually the pain got the better of him and he passed out. Everything went black…and silent…
“Inspector,” Torgald said, bowing respectfully. “I’m glad you could make it out today.
“No you’re not,” the woman said. She had a severe cast to her face, with the sort of mouth you could tell at a glance was eternally downturned. Her clothes, wrapped tight around her body, looked as stiff and uncomfortable as her facade.
Torgald dropped his smile immediately. “That’s unfair,” he said. “We’re…
Btw, tangentially related to a post a few posts back
There are no dragons on Starlo. None. Nadda. Zilch. There are drakes, there are wyverns, and there are leviathans. But no dragons. There are half-dragons, people who can transform into dragon-like beings and back (Charchar is one, and it's been passed down her family line FOR GENERATIONS!). But no actual dragons. I bet you wanna know why right? I bet you wanna know why dragons specifically don't exist on Starlo, while everything resembling dragons do exist, right? Well too bad, you can't always get what you want! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA--*cough* *snork* *wheeze*...HAHA!
People who die underground rise again as semi-zombie ghouls
People who die by drowning turn into mermaids (or sea dwellers!)
People who die in space become half-dragons (mostly human, except for wings, tail and clawed feet and occasionally horns, either furry or scaly depending on homeland region is usually snowy or not. true only if the sun’s natural white color can be seen)
People who die in any other circumstances become ghosts.
Can we talk about how in fantasy half dragons are basically the children of the dragon equivalent of furries? Like, a dragon decides "I want to fuck a human" and takes on a human persons to have sex with humans. Naturally, this begs the question, is there a stigma attached to that kind of thing among certain groups like there is fit furries, or are dragons too solitary for such social stigma to develop?
