Work in progress -halflings leaf
Man thinking about how Gandalf smoked weed all the time and was having to convince his friend to give up crack even though he had "mostly quit" makes me so emotional.
Slaughter House, opening night review
Slaughter House, MCR newest metal night!
Roadhouse, Newton Street.
Well there’s another monthly night to be added to your diaries, Dusty Pop entertainment has started its very own METAL night and you get a lot for your money! £5 entry fee saw Friday nights crowd treated to 4 up and coming bands followed by a superstar DJ in the making.
The new Slaughterhouse night was opened by “Manchester Rocks” fave rockers Hardtail, a late addition to the bill they introduced themselves as “+ Guests”; that got a few chuckles from the crowd! Strong clean vocals and catchy as hell riffs backed up by a powerful rhythm section, what more could you want!!
Quirky metallers with a pinch of punk “Giants of the West” were up next…having seen these guys before I was looking forward to hearing their special musical blendings, forget Pop Punk get yourself some METAL PUNK!! Â
Halflings Leaf’s whirl winded on stage, confident as hell! Mix the rage from RATM with a bit of Mars Volta avant-garde and get a hobbit to put in his pipe and smoke it and you may have a slight idea what these crazy guys sounds like…Don’t forget the Hawaiian shirts either, awesome!
Last up and heaviest band of the night “Severenth” battered our ears with their fusion of melodic death & black metal, the set was blistering and you can see how these guys have already played alongside heavy hitters 3 Inches of Blood and Trigger the Bloodshed, amongst overs! Can’t wait to see these guys again!
The bands had ripped it up but the night was only young and we waited for the transition from gig the club night with DJ Foxz! This didn’t go as smooth as it could of and a lot of people left, which was really disappointing as when the DJ finally got going (in front of red velvet drapes!) he played some quality metal and I was far too sober to be thrashing on an empty dancefloor!
Overall a great night of bands and if enough folk had stuck around or more had come down post live music it would have been even more awesome, there isn’t that many places to go on Friday nights anymore, other than Back From Hell, lets get some more people down for the next one on 15th June!!
