Took a nose dive into AFTG fics for funsies and I have about 50 open tabs now so I thought hmmmm let's return to MY old fics and when I finally came to it was 1am and I had an additional 5k words added my professor Neil prequel.
Because twitter is a hell space and I rarely use it, here's a little snippet of what I've been working on for my prequal series for Professor Neil :)
October 21, 2008 (Tuesday)
Neil sat at his preferred table looking over the German pages from last week. Andrew was slumped in his seat across the table, pen loose in his hand as he worked. Neil had procured a workbook from one of the German professors on campus. At the rate Andrew was going, Neil would need to find something else, fast.
Without noticing, Neil chewed on his thumbnail. It didn’t escape his notice that Babe Ruth had taken up a position that was further from Neil’s feet than normal. He was occasionally sniffing the air in hopes that Andrew had more treats.
Andrew didn’t glance up from his work. “What’s with the dog?”
Neil dropped his thumb to his lap. “I’ve only got one leg.”
Hazel eyes met his and Neil held back at smirk. No doubt Andrew was fighting against looking under the table to see if his words were true. Every time Andrew had arrived, Neil had already been seated at the table. To Neil’s knowledge, they’d never crossed paths on campus either. Andrew turned back to the work that was easily nearing completion.
Neil hummed. “How long have you been learning German?”
“Is this an interrogation?” Andrew questioned back.
Shrugging, Neil rested an elbow on the table. “Believe it or not, most tutor relationships tend to be fairly friendly.”
Andrew sighed quietly. “High school, flunked out the second course.”
That was either bullshit or Andrew hadn’t cared to do the work. Either was plausible but Neil didn’t have a legal way to check records that far back. From the work Andrew did last week it was obvious that he had a good grasp on the language. He didn’t have issues with tense changes from the workbook questions. Neil had been out of practice of the language for a few years and took some time to think over his next words.
Lil piece from a newer WIP named The Tunnel for now :)
The tunnel piqued Neil’s curiosity. Despite how close the town was to the sea, mountains rose up blocking off easy access from the north. From the beach, Neil could see the stretch of land a few miles out that was Fox Island. It was connected to the mainland with a large bridge that cut through the mountains with a tunnel.
He’d heard the rumors the first day he’d arrived. Been warned off from playing too close to the tunnel by some older woman at the grocery store. It wasn’t till he’d gone to school on the first day, uniform tie cinched too tight against his throat and heavy backpack digging into his shoulders, that he learned more.
The kids at school liked to talk, and they did so frequently. Neil had the utter horror of being the new kid. Attention focused on him as though he was a flame and the students were moths. There was a peppy blonde waiting for him at the main office, Marissa, who was in charge of showing him around that morning. His locker was boring and basic, set along the wall closest to his homeroom. He memorized the code on the paper he was given as Melissa (?) walked him through the halls and chatted about local activities happening. It was January, a week after his birthday when he’d joined the student body of Palmetto Academy.
Okay so I posted a thought on Twitter and now I'm bringing it here with more lmao
Country ranch worker Andrew meets famous city boy Neil :) my hallmark Christmas movie cliche dreams.
Andrew working on the farm. It was his fathers and when Tilda died it went to the twins. Built on the land in a generation old agreement is Palmetto Retreat. A fox rehab center that gets donations from people coming to rent cabins and volunteer at the center. Wymack runs the retreat and rescue.
Aaron lives out of town so he can attend med school. He used to work with the local town doctor Abby Winfield.
Andrew owns and runs it by himself most of the time. He hired on Matt and Seth to help out.
Renee is a bartender and part owner of a popular local bar. Roland is another bartender there. Allison is the town's rich girl who part owns the bar too.
Neil is a popular actor that after getting into a public fist fight with Riko Moriyama - has been told that he needs to clean up his image. The easiest way to do that is to star in a few classic christmas feel good movies. He's filmed one already that's in post production.
They're filming a classic story about a city girl who comes to her small hometown around Christmas and meet a local boy from her childhood. They fall in love and she helps save his families business from going under.
Neil's costar is a woman named Marissa.
Gonna add more at some point but it's getting fleshed out :))))
