“I don’t like this.” Another corner rounded, Hallie’s hand never left the wall as she was scared once she lost contact then everything would go to hell. Again, “I really, really don’t like this. How did I ever allow you to talk me into going here?”
Hallie’s pace, which was cautiously slow to begin with, stopped completely when the hallway light flickered. “Okay. Did you pay someone to do this?” The girl was such a scaredy cat and it wasn’t until a quarter of the way through the tour their “guide” decided to take a break; not to be heard from for close to an hour. Maybe he was behind the haunted shenanigans. Those sort of places didn’t actually exist.
Right?
When Luna didn’t respond to her question, Hallie turned nervously, and noticed she was alone in the hallway.
“Luna?”
There was a noise in the distance, perhaps a door closed. “Oh sh-” came a whimper. “There’s no way I’m asking who’s there. That’s how you die in these scenarios.”
With one backward step. Then another. Hallie’s eyes focused at a random spot down the dark hallway, another noise came and the woman wasn’t having it anymore. With a start she spun on her heels and ran in the direction they came from; in hopes she’d find the front door to the historic mansion Luna told her about the week before.
Too bad Hallie was to learn the hard way that the door was sealed tight and there was no way out.
Not until morning.
