Bug of the Day
Me too, moth, me too...
@ixwantxtoxlivex89 submitted: No IDs necessary. Just some random friends I've made over the past month or two.
What an excellent group of fine friends. I love them all deeply but especially the tussock moth in the third photo! And the jumper....
Halysidota tessellaris on Hibiscus moscheutos / Banded Tussock Moth on Swamp Rosemallow
These Halysidota moths are too busy to notice that their perch is an American toad [Anaxyrus americanus], a species that would normally make a meal out of them. This unusual scene was spotted by Joanne Russo on a warm summer night in Rockingham, Vermont.Â
Today I found a Halysidota caterpillar
Halysidota species from last night.
A very good representation of a Sycamore Tussock Moth (Halysidota harrisii). Submitted and brought to you by Ira Blick! Moth /Â Art by Ira Blick

@rogueinkglitch submitted: A beetle, some slugs, and a caterpillar from Ohio! IDs would be appreciated. Additionally, bonus Fungus
Fungus can be bugs, if they'd like. And I think they would.
From the top: common green June beetle, Arion slug, Arion slug again but this time at a different angle (glamour shots!), Halysidota tussock moth caterpillar, changeable mantleslug, and another changeable mantleslug (is it the same one or a different guy?).
