i'm a diehard environmentalist and i still think plastic straws are valid and useful so these people have no excuse tbh

Honestly? Same.

People have no idea what I do to try and help the planet. They have no clue the lengths I go to to live in an environmentally friendly house and to minimize my impact on the earth.

I even wrote a god damn article about environmental activism vs performative activism in the Zero Waste movement, and gave examples on how to live a more eco-friendly life.

It’s ugh, it’s whatever. People are going to complain no matter what. At least I’ll be hydrated while they do it.

I'm curious about how it goes the first time they have sex in the ACT verse

In my opinion, badly.  My friends, please go elsewhere if you want to imagine that the sex is nice and not embarrassing.

Harry just wants sex, but mostly so he can be as close as possible and touch as much as possible.  Like, it doesn’t have to be fancy; he just wants to be touched.  He tries to do this with Draco, but Draco is nervous out of his mind, and wants everything to be perfect, so he keeps trying to be new and interesting and different, teasing Harry and demanding these things while thinking it’s just to pleasure Harry.  Harry really just wants to be touched, so he’s okay with these things because Draco is still there with him and touching him and they get to be naked, but he’s really pretty frustrated.  But he doesn’t want to take over or tell Draco he’s doing it wrong because.  Well.  Anything Draco does to him still feels good, and Harry isn’t used to expressing that he wants to be touched and cuddled, so he can’t think of the words to ask for what he wants. 

Meanwhile, Draco is so nervous that he uh, goes off too soon, and in fact continues to have problems with premature ejaculation for like, the first year or so that they’re together.  It doesn’t bother Harry, but Draco is absolutely mortified, and makes potions to fix it, which have the opposite effect, and Harry tells him to cut it out.

I mean.  Harry thinks it’s fine, in the end, because it’s Draco and Draco spoons him afterward, and Draco is upset about it but Very Determined not to be a mess next time (he fails).  But while it’s nothing either of them fantasized about, they’re really happy to be touching each other, and Harry tells Draco more than once that it’s not their last chance; they’ll do it again very, very soon.  So it’s fine, but doesn’t really become a strong point in their relationship until much later.

hey I just saw ur comment on that post about how for a lot of people the choice is between being a man and being a functioning adult, could you expand on that? cause best as i can tell the choice would be between being able to function continuously as before/as you always have and going to therapy and having to do a lot of rebuilding which would make you not a functional person for at least a while before you get back into it. sorry if this isn't clear, im just trying to understand what you mean

...Okay, so unpopular opinion- cis people can suffer from gender dysphoria. Specifically, cis people who are forced to do something wildly outside their conception of their gender can experience severe emotional and physical distress. I think men who say that they feel ‘emasculated’ are experiencing this kind of gender dysphoria.

If you’ve been taught that being emotionally constipated is a necessary part of manhood, fixing that emotional constipation will give you gender dysphoria, at least for a while while you rejigger your expectations. And in my experience most people find gender dysphoria to be more painful than just about any other form of emotional/spiritual distress. People are willing to cut off their families, undergo major surgery, and change their entire lives so they don’t have to experience gender dysphoria anymore. 

So... if you’ve been socialized to believe that emotional constipation is part of manhood, your options are basically ‘suffer from emotional constipation and feel secure in your gender (while hurting yourself and everyone around you because of it)’ or ‘work on emotional issues and feel severe gender dysphoria because You’re Being A Man Wrong while doing it’.

The big issue is that Rich was both a major contributor to and the primary supporter of Janice Raymond’s Transsexual Empire.

While she tended not to speak about trans people directly in her work, she certainly never supported trans people, and actively supported propaganda designed to get us killed.

you absolutely don't have to answer this, but what do you think of fandom antishipping/moral crusades? it worries me a lot. I'm pretty new to fandom (16, only been doing this for a year or so) and I have somewhat strange tastes but antishippers make me feel unsafe and weird. I'm curious about what you think about them, though

Hi there! This is a side-step from the present topic, but I’m more than willing to answer. Anti-shipping moral crusades and this Tumblr-purity-police trend utterly baffle me, because when I first entered fandom at a couple of years older than you are now? Such things didn’t visibly exist, at least not in the circles I inhabited. My fandom mentors taught me about warnings and disclaimers so that I could make decisions about what was right for me to read (and not right for me to read), and how to use them so that my readers could make those decisions, too. The world of mainstream published fiction does not come with the benefit of trigger or content warnings, but we have systems in place here in fandom so that people can click on by and practice self-care. When I see people actively exposing themselves to content they should not, for whatever reason, be accessing, all for the purpose of railing about it? I’m of the opinion they’re not, in most cases, really doing it out of the desire to protect others. They’re doing it because they believe they should be able to control how others read, think, and write. I avoid things that I don’t want to see; I have warnings and tags at my disposal to let me do that. I also provide others with those tools so that they can do the same. Read and create what you want and/or need to, but definitely take care of yourself. You seem self-aware and circumspect, so I believe you’ll do just fine.

That’s fine with me, provided that credit is given where credit is due!! I don’t want to come across as overly controlling about fanworks, but if there’s part of an ask that I’ve answered or like a headcanon post or something and you want to do art of it or write something based off of it, that’s totally fine! Just make sure that it’s connected back to me in some way, because that interpretation/headcanon is my intellectual property and I’d like to have that ownership respected.

also I do believe you can have comment moderation on ao3 which doesn't STOP them but it kinda does anyway? at least ime. you can also lock your fics which is like turning anon off cause that means only people with an ao3 account can read them (so no anon commenting) I hope this shitshow dies down soon, it's really nasty and people have been ridiculously obnoxious to you for no good reason and it's GROSS. sending you love 💛💜💚

I’m not locking the fics because meh I want people to read them ;) but I’m gonna turn off anon comments at least on that fic and other jb ones if it’s the case and I’ll see how it goes, meanwhile I’m prob. gonna report them to ao3 anyway even if I doubt there’s much they can do since it was an anon -__- but ty god I so DIDN’T need this mess -__-
