SKILL: organic matter 'revival' LEVEL OF CONTROL: 4 SOME FACTS ABOUT THE RENEGADE: • The Renegade lived with their family until the age of 15, when they were kicked out of their Orthodox Christian household for reading Harry Potter. Since then, the Renegade has developed into an agnostic- a belief which their biological family believed would send them to hell. • They first began to notice flowers blooming in their wake as a small child playing outside during the early summer months; the Renegade initially didn't think much of it. Later, the Renegade gained more control and fully realized the limits of their power. For one thing, they can only bring somewhat organic matter to life- and that life is usually very short. They also tend to get drained afterwards. One time, the Renegade found an electrocuted squirrel by a telephone wire. It took them 60 hours to sleep off bringing it back to life. • The Renegade is a notorious chain smoker. They have taken to standing outside of the middle school, rasping to preteens about the evils of smoking. Most local health educators simultaneously appreciate and despair for them. CONNECTIONS • The Virgin was the one who tattled on the Renegade for reading Harry Potter. She also subsequently accused them of witchcraft. The Renegade would have forgiven her if she had just reported them for reading Harry Potter, but accusing them of witchcraft ensured that they would never be able to step into their childhood home again. The Renegade would have been a very different person were it not for the Virgin's actions- and not necessarily a better one. • The Ascendant and the Renegade were in a very intense relationship from their Junior year in high school to when they parted their separate ways to go to college. Perhaps it was so intense because it was a secret. The Ascendant has never liked having her romantic relationships in public, and the Renegade- though they never told her this- feared retaliation from their old 'family' for having congress out of wedlock. SKILL: supernatural strength LEVEL OF CONTROL: 2 SOME FACTS ABOUT THE MAVERICK… • The Maverick, like the Amaranth, is a deeply optimistic person- a trait inherited from their mother. However, unlike the Amaranth, the Maverick is a protector by nature. Blame it on having two (sometimes terrifying) little sisters, their personality... whatever it is, the Maverick has a habit of taking people under their wing. • The Maverick is very athletic, a trait they take pride in. They are the captain of the unisex ice-hockey team and bike the three miles to and from school every day, sleet or snow. At first, the Maverick just thought that their newfound finesse was due to their recent weight training- but then they flipped the Amaranth's first truck by accident. • Much to their sisters' chagrin, the Maverick has a perfect GPA. CONNECTIONS • The Maverick is the older sibling of both the Amaranth and the Crepehanger. They are very protective of their baby sisters. The Maverick, however, is somewhat closer to the Amaranth than the Crepehanger, since the latter's manipulative behavior has made her wary as of late. • Daniel Blackburn (NPC) and the Maverick were very close before his disappearance. He was bad; they were good. However, the Maverick seemed to realize his intelligence before anyone else did. Daniel was forever loyal to her for this, and thus decided to trust her more than he trusted his own sister, the Ascendant. The twins thought that they were dating, but neither Daniel nor the Maverick ever thought of the other that way. SKILL: object recovery LEVEL OF CONTROL: 4 SOME FACTS ABOUT THE HEDONIST… • They are always living life to the absolute fullest, never worrying about the consequences of their actions. They don’t have a worry in the world. They tend to act before considering what the consequences might be. • During a house party at their home, the Hedonist broke an expensive lamp. Somehow, they managed to put the object back together just with their will alone. The Hedonist has fixed other things similarly since then. It's unknown whether they are actually mending the objects, or switching them out with the corresponding one from the opposite world. • The Hedonist's family is quite wealthy, but they do not see a lot of their parents. CONNECTIONS • The Enigma was someone they had fallen for in high school, though they were always too afraid to admit it. Their fear was that they’d be tied down by the Enigma. They want to live their life as freely as possible. • The Siren is someone they consider to be a project. They want to pull them out of their shell, secretly aware of their ability. The Hedonist is sure that if they manage to get the Siren on their side, the two of them would be unstoppable. FURTHER DETAILS • They have limitations with what they can fix. SKILL: memory manipulation LEVEL OF CONTROL: 4 SOME FACTS ABOUT THE FORGOTTEN… • What they say becomes the truth. They are capable of tampering with the memories of other people, simply through their speech. Their skill seems to work exceedingly well- as long as what they're saying is based in the truth. • They’re known as the local drug dealer around town. When they're caught, they can just change the version of the witness’ story. • The Forgotten has a very serious love for Colin Firth, and can be found after a break up crying in front of Pride and Prejudice. CONNECTIONS • The Reject used to be a friend of theirs before the Reject disappeared months ago. Now that he’s returned, it seems as though he has no memory of the Forgotten whatsoever. They still provide the Reject with drugs, pretending that they have no memory of him. • The Activist and the Forgotten have been friends since they were in middle school. In high school, they frequently graffitied public property, knocked down mailboxes, and generally raised hell. However, neither of them have a criminal record since the Forgotten was always simply able to make anyone who accused them forget about it. SKILL: interuniversal transport (with bonus automatic assimilation) LEVEL OF CONTROL: 0 SOME FACTS ABOUT THE FALLEN MENTAL ILLNESS TW. PROCEED KNOWING YOUR LIMITS. • The Fallen came from Universe 2, where 'skills' are considered normal and not secretive at all. They were frequently excluded as a child because they had no discernable skill. As a result, they became quite withdrawn and somewhat awkward in conversation. • Last year, the Fallen was sleeping in their bedroom. The next thing they knew, they were falling from the sky and landed in a field without breaking a bone. On the same day, Daniel Blackburn disappeared. An otherwise childless couple (who could easily be their biological parents, based on appearance) just accepted them, without question, and asked them where she'd been all day. Being without their siblings or mother in an alternate universe has put the Fallen under duress, to say the least. They were committed to a psychiatric hospital this past summer for a week due to a brutal series of panic attacks and paranoid delusions. They have chosen to keep this under wraps from the people at school. • The Fallen has played piano since they were 6 and is somewhat of a prodigy. Since their unwelcome transport, they have also taken up cello. CONNECTIONS • The Fallen and the Comedian seem to be the only ones who have noticed the Fallen's sudden, unexplained appearance. Everyone else just acts like the Fallen has always been around. The Comedian and the Fallen, despite being near polar opposites in terms of personality, keep an eye on each other in order to survive. The Fallen, for example, frequently subtly picks paperclips off of the Comedian in class. • Upon seeing each other, the Valedictorian has wanted to impress the Fallen. Unlike the Comedian, the Valedictorian is under the impression that the Fallen has known them since grade school. The Valedictorian has never experienced any kind of romantic attraction before, and as a result has humiliated the Fallen several times in public by insulting them. SKILL: empathy LEVEL OF CONTROL: 0 SOME FACTS ABOUT THE ENIGMA… • They have been swimming since they were twelve years old and are the top of their local swim team. • As a result of their skill, the Enigma has been known to show little to no emotion. Because of their unwanted ability to absorb the emotions of anyone around them, the Enigma must exert extreme control over themselves in order to not have a breakdown. • The Engima's favorite food is pistachio ice cream. CONNECTIONS • The Swimfan is obsessed with them, and they are completely aware. Whenever they are in the presence of the Swimfan, they suddenly become more self aware and sure of themselves. They indirectly influence the Enigma’s confidence unknowingly. • The Hedonist would be what one might call an ‘almost lover’. During their final year of high school, the two of them were inseparable. People always confused them for a couple and even though the Enigma knew that the Hedonist returned the same feelings, nothing ever came of it. Now, they barely even speak. SKILL: reflected self has an independent personality LEVEL OF CONTROL: 0 SOME FACTS ABOUT THE DOUBLE SUICIDE AND MENTAL ILLNESS TW. PROCEED KNOWNING YOUR LIMITS. • The Double was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia when they were 13, due to their repeated hallucinations of their reflection telling them to commit suicide. It's unclear whether the Double's reflection has a soul of its own or if the Double is really hallucinating. • Due to the Double's assumed severe mental illness, they have returned to high school at the age of 21 to complete their diploma. The school staff (who are highly sympathetic, as the Double was known as a gentle, intelligent child in their elementary and middle years) have removed most, if not all, reflective surfaces from the school and boarded up many of the windows that the Double walks past on a daily basis, though not all of the ones in school. No one has suspected that this has anything to do with the Double's unexplained return. • The Double's favorite flavor of Ben and Jerry's is Cherry Garcia. CONNECTIONS • The Valedictorian and the Double frequently bicker over intellectual matters. The Double finds these discussions refreshing from the tedium of mental hospitals they have known for the last 7 or so years; however, the Valedictorian considers them a nuisance and constantly questions why the Double came back to school- which may be quite dangerous for the Double's safety. • The Double and the Amaranth share many classes, despite their 5-year age gap. The Amaranth has consistently been kind to the Double, and the Double appreciates seeing a friendly face every day. Besides, it doesn't hurt that (unlike many people) the Amaranth has never asked one question about the Double's absence. AGE: 16 Suggested FCs: Kim Ji-Won, Amandla Stenberg … and her soul is dark, I think, and she knows it. SKILL: telepathic connection with the Amaranth LEVEL OF CONTROL: 2 SOME FACTS ABOUT THE CREPEHANGER… • Under the Maverick's tutelage, the Crepehanger has managed to become the head of the cheerleading squad. Yes, the squad only has 5 Freshman and herself on it, but the Crepehanger finds satisfaction in her ounce of control. • The Crepehanger, unlike the Amaranth and the Maverick, has a very pessimistic, manipulative outlook on life. Her favorite book is The Prince by Machiavelli. She credits it with helping her somewhat solve her compulsive lying issues, though her sisters consider it a negative influence. • The Crepehanger hates cherry coughdrops more than anything. CONNECTIONS • The Crepehanger is the identical twin of twin of the Amaranth. They truly do love each other; but lately their telepathic bond has been stressing the Amaranth out because of the Crepehanger's morally dubious habits. The Amaranth is morally conflicted in several ways; for one thing, it's not like her sister can control exactly what the Amaranth 'hears', and she's her sister. On the other hand, there is nothing that makes the Amaranth squirm more than manipulating another person. • The Crepehanger has found her older sibling the Maverick very helpful. Due to the Maverick's pressure to join a sports team, the Crepehanger has not exactly gained popularity, but she certainly now has a reputation. The Maverick, knowing full well how manipulative the Crepehanger is (though admittedly not as well as the Amaranth, but no one knows the Crepehanger like she does), partially blames herself for encouraging the Crepehanger's morally dubious activities.
