so here's a secret santa piece i meant to post outside of discord like.... a month or two ago whoops just the seahams going on a cool journey and facing some strong wind!

April 23rd, Happy Birthday Hambeard!

Hambeard is probably the oldest member of the Pirate Crew of Captain Hamstern. He is big and messy, always sporting a bandage from, perhaps, an old wound. We only see his eyes twice: once through a spyglass and another time when they are all acting cool; as they are covered by his wild fur, and he suffers from chapped lips that give him a rowdy look.

Hambeard is in charge of the engine that propels their steam pirate ship that... flies. He is also seen taking care of firing the cannon and working as spotter. Given his age, he probably has a lot of experience so he can work in a lot of positions. He also plays the electric guitar in the Captain’s band.

Hambeard’s Japanese name is Higehamu, which can be translated as “Beard Hamster”, which fits him perfectly given his physical appearance.

He was introduced in the third Hamtaro movie, “Miracle in Aurora Valley”, along with the other hamsters of Captain Hamstern’s crew. After that, he made an appearance in Hamtaro Ham-Ham Games for the Game Boy Advance as a member of Team Sea Hams. He makes a big cameo on the fourth OVA, by saving Hamtaro from falling into the sea and then helping to carry the sacred flame torch.

Relationships

Hambeard does not have any known crush, however, he is clearly a ham of the sea. He is in good terms with Hambone, who apparently helps him wake up in the morning.

He is devoted to his Captain and his fellow crewmen, with whom he spends most of his time.

Movie 3 – Miracle in Aurora Village

As a member of Captain Hamstern’s crew, Hambeard diligently follows orders and helps kidnap the Snow Princess, Bijou. He also gets mad at Hamtaro for being called a pig nose. OVA  4 - Ham-Ham Goal: Go for the Gold!

Hambeard saves Hamtaro by flying their pirate ship under him when he and Oxnard are falling in the water, and then gathers everyone that is going to participate in Hamcropolis and carries them there.
