So if I never watched pacific rim will I understand your pacific rim fic?

I think you’d be able to! I have a prologue in there which sets up the exposition of the story. I’ve really just taken some of the skeletal details from Pacific Rim to craft my plot around it, which is more MCU focused! therefore, to tie the MCU in more strongly, the biggest change I’ve made is that the monsters are Jotun (instead of Kaiju, like in the Pacific Rim movie). 

the basic plot details boil down to: a team of two pilots gear up to fight the giant Jotuns in machines called Jaegers (think of an Iron Man suit, only ten times bigger). the pilots engage in a neural handshake (which will be covered more thoroughly in the story) and that allows them to synch up mentally and fight the Jotuns. and then the ass-kicking begins. all the pilots and scientists and engineers and leaders and crewmen stay in worldwide bases called shatterdomes with their Jaegers, ready to leave for combat on a moment’s notice. 

that’s all you really need to know, no complicated or intricate plot details would be referenced from Pacific Rim that you wouldn’t understand! It’s just a story about two unlikely people getting past their own demons (and differences) to team up and save the world.
