This project penetrates the very private life and secret relationship of Hassan Fathy, a well-known architect and Egyptian public figure. It exposes the private to the public. Many might have seen his works, buildings and heard of his projects but only through archival research can one be exposed to his personal life. However the Letters that were found in the archive, sent to Fathy from a Greek woman named Stimatia Papadakis also known as T.T. don’t just reveal her relationship with fathy, but also reveals parts of the Greek and Egyptian historical events and how individuals dealt with all the historical and political changes throughout their lives. The Main aim of this project however is to question the transition between letter-based relationships and social media-based relationships. By using T.T’s language and quoting her letters in form of a WhatsApp conversation that is printed on tangible paper, the viewer is put in the position to compare the different mediums and their effect on the dynamics of any relationship.
