I absolutely adore the way you draw Nishino and would love to see you do some hananishi art

The juxtaposition of Hanano maniacally cackling and spouting nonsense about rivalries and villainy while Nishino screams for her to stop and go back to the person she trusts and cares about is so fucking horrifying to me

Nishino is sobbing and begging okazaki to stop and she keeps going

She keeps laughing

She keeps being overdramatic

She keeps acting like this was for anything but stupidity

And Nishino can't do anything but watch as that affection she had for Okazaki twists and stabs in her chest

And she's the last person Okazaki will ever speak to.

And her last words are promising that she will be her friend.

Even though she's leaving her

She cared about a fantasy more than she ever cared about Nishino

And nishino has to scream and cry and beg and process that while Okazaki is being suffocated and burned because of her delusions

And the worst part is Nishino could never have done anything

Okazaki would never be the person Nishino wanted her to be, and Nishino was never the person Okazaki wanted her to be

And in her strange, twisted logic, Okazaki gave her life for Nishino's

Even though Nishino never wanted her to.

Hanahiro thoughts bc people are talking about it

No matter how long they've known each other hanai is still totally impressed (and a lil bit jealous) of how naturally smart nishihiro is, and nishihiro is just in awe of how good hanai is with sports n being captain, and one day they after they get together talk about it and they both blush n do the whole "no you're more impressive than I am you can do ___" and it drags on until they've basically admitted to each other everything they like about the other and by the end of it they're just fully embarrassed and when they finally run out of things to say they both kinda start talking about what they have in common and eventually they just accept all of it with red faces

Nishihiro introduces hanai to his favorite manga n hanai makes sure to actually read it bc it seems to matter to nishihiro (and wow its actually really good) and they talk about it like the intelligent people they are ("my favorite part was the whoosh and the ka-cha and suddenly he was there" "right??? and then they did the thing n stuff" "EXACTLY") like the intelligent people they are

Hanai helps nishihiro work out and nishihiro totally feels comfortable pushing his limits when hanai is there bc hanai is big n strong and knows what's too far (and stops him from doing anything dangerous) (hanai helps out so that he can watch his attractive bf get dirty n sweaty he knows nishihiro doesn't hurt himself) and hanai enjoys watching nishihiro grow into a really attractive slightly muscle-y guy bc of his help

they look at universities together in third year and decide that they won't decide based on each others decisions bc they don't want to hold each other from what they really want, but end up choosing the same one anyway (bc it had good academia, good field, good team/coach, fair price, etc)

hanai talking very sincerely to nishihiro about having kouhai ahead of him on the bench like "theyve got experience with x position so they are before for that, but you trained hard to recover any position" and nishihiro absolutely does not cries (but only a lil) and really appreciates that hanai was the one who reassured that he is 100% a valued member of the team

Summary: Nishihiro and Hanai are caught under the mistletoe together.

It was your average Christmas party. Prank presents strewn about, torn wrapping paper and empty boxes littering the floor, dorky athletic high school boys being boys and throwing food at each other, and, of course, the mistletoe around every corner. Hanai was fairly certain that the mistletoe was Tajima's doing due to the fact that they were at Mihashi's place, and the pitcher just didn't seem like the kind of person who would do that. The third-baseman was exactly the kind of person who would put some of the plant up just so that he could be kept entertained.

And then there were those dicks that Hanai called friends who herded him and Nishihiro underneath the mistletoe.

That was how Hanai had ended up in his current predicament. He stared down at the blushing boy standing in front of him who was staring back up at him with confused eyes. The rest of the guys were standing off to the sides just watching with huge grins on their faces, waiting to see what happens. This was, without a doubt, Tajima's doing.

"Go on, Hanai! Do it!" Speak of the Devil.

"Yeah, go get 'em, Tiger!" Damn it, Mizutani.

"Grow some balls, Captain!" Fuck you, Abe. Fuck you very much.

"Hanai?"

Nishihiro's voice was weak and unsure. Hanai could see that his entire body was shaking, and his knees looked like they were going to give out at any point in time. Hanai wasn't going to lie; he was just as nervous as Nishihiro, if not more so. However, he wasn't just gonna let him fall to his knees because he was too nervous. Hanai wrapped an arm gently around the boy's waist, pulling him closer. Nishihiro's face was pressed against the captain's chest, and he could feel his heart pounding heavily. He was shocked at how much heat was radiating off of him.

Both boys heard the whistles and catcalls of their friends who stood around them, and the two were blushing furiously. They looked at each other again, and Nishihiro pulled his bottom lip between his teeth and worried at it. The captain was entranced by the way his teeth pushed into the bottom lip, leaving small indents as he released it, letting it fall back into its natural place. He watched as a small, pink tongue darted out of his mouth and lapped at his bottom lip, pulling it back between his teeth and then repeating what he had previously done, forming a cycle.

Hanai unconsciously began to lean towards Nishihiro, and the room went deadly silent. Nishihiro could see his captain’s face coming closer to his, and he closed his eyes, desperately awaiting the kiss that he had been wanting for so long. As their lips connected, there was a sudden feeling that burst through them, a sensation of fireworks going off between them. The other boys around them erupted in cheers. The kiss didn’t last very long and they both pulled back, staring at each other with flushed faces.

Neither boy could hear any of the noise around them, and they just stared at each other, both noticing things about the other boy that they had never noticed before. They both leaned towards the other, and their lips met again in another kiss that was far more passionate than the first. Some of their teammates’ eyes went wide, and others began to giggle while pushing the ones who were gaping at the two out of the room, closing the door behind them. Nishihiro and Hanai were left alone in the room, but neither of them could see anything but the boy in front of him.

The arm that had been around Nishihiro slid down his back and he grabbed Nishihiro’s hand in his own, twining their fingers together. They both pulled away from the other reluctantly, leaving their hands as the only thing connecting them physically. They smiled at each other, and Nishihiro let out a soft chuckle. They left the room together and found their teammates outside the door, scattering in every direction. It was obvious that they had been listening in, expecting to hear something more happen. They both laughed at the way the other boys were scrambling around.

For the rest of the party, neither boy left the other’s side.

When it came time for the party to end, Hanai offered to walk Nishihiro home, and the shorter boy agreed, his cheeks tinged a light pink. The two travelled to the Nishihiro household together, hand in hand.

“So… how long?” Nishihiro asked, staring at the snow falling around them. He had a build-up of snowflakes on the top of his head in the puff of dark hair. He had a small smile on his face as he spoke to Hanai.

“Hm? How long for what?” Hanai asked in confusion, looking over at the boy next to him. He brought his other hand up and brushed the snow out of his hair, running his fingers through the soft, black locks.

“How long have you liked me?” He responded quietly, squeezing his captain’s hand tightly as he felt the hand in his hair brushing against his scalp lightly. The feeling of a hand running through his hair was more enjoyable than he ever would have been able to imagine that it would be.

“Um… I’m not sure actually,” Hanai replied sheepishly. It was the truth. He knew that he began to see the other boy in an entirely different light after the game against Bijou, but he wasn’t sure when he realised that he liked him. “What about you?”

“Since the game against Bijou,” Nishihiro said, grinning at him. “I’m pretty sure that I realized that I liked you sometime during the game.”

“During the game? Really?”

“Y-yeah.”

They continued to talk for the rest of the journey, and they almost walked past Nishihiro’s house because they were so deep in conversation. Neither boy wanted to say goodbye quite yet, but they knew that they had to because they had practice the next morning and it was getting pretty late.

“So, I guess I’ll see you tomorrow at practice?” Nishihiro asked as he grabbed Hanai’s other hand in his unoccupied one.

“Of course! I’m the captain, so I can’t miss practice!” Hanai replied, grinning at the other boy. He squeezed the alternate player’s hands before letting go.

Nishihiro turned to head into his house, but he paused for a moment, turning back to his captain and leaning up to press a kiss to his cheek.

“Merry Christmas, Hanai.”

He pulled back and looked into Hanai’s eyes for a second before quickly turning back to his house and running inside, shutting the door behind him. Hanai brought a hand up to his cheek and placed it over the spot where Nishihiro’s lips had touched, blushing like mad. He shook his head furiously and stared at the door that Nishihiro had previously gone through.

“Merry Christmas…” He said, grinning as he walked away. He pumped his fist in the air and let out a yell of happiness as he took off running.
