H a n d s t a n d s There's been a shift in the handstand technique over the last many years which has been really interesting to follow! When my dad did gymnastics, he was told to "arch like a banana" in his handstands. Yoga handstands often had this approach too (I've been in loads of classes that still teach this) The shift has been towards a finer line! A straight line, that demands quiet a lot of shoulder flexibility and body awareness. In the wake of the whole movement wave, a lot of gatekeepers have also turned up, discouraging people from doing handstands if they can't do them "correctly"! I think that whoever charges into the world of handstands will find and adopt these techniques when they are ready, it is our job as teachers to offer the knowledge that they are there, to be used when the student is ready, not overseeing the individual and their journey behind the quest to get them into a straight line! Im teaching a handstand workshop today - it's mainly just gonna be fun and challenging! . . . . . #handstand #handstands #handbalance #armbalance #armbalancelove #handstand_where_i_stand #handstandseverywhere #handstand365 #inversionjunkie #handstandpractice #adhomukhasvanasana #gymnast #gym #yoga #yogapose #strala #stralayoga #stralaguide #yogisofinstagram #yogafam (her: Norsminde, Arhus, Denmark)
