She had turned on the faucet to wash her hands. Her eyes looked out the window to the salted street before them. Black ice, she was sure it spread across the roads somewhere. In the evening, maybe. SHIELD would have plenty of trauma surgeries these next few months, if agents weren't careful on the roads.
Which, at times, they weren't.
Anayeli looked down at her hands as she cut off the water. She could remember this routine; cut the water, dry your hands, and...
She was getting ready to go speak to the patient's family.
The kitchen became the white walls of the hospital. It wasn't SHIELD. She had went to another hospital that day, to go help on a major surgery.
What had Olive told her?
"I have a bad feeling about tomorrow."
"JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!"
She didn't hear Abel fall out of his chair in the other room. She didn't even hear him as he came to her, but when he moved to embrace her, she screamed again.
"Get away from me," she pleaded, beating against him.
"Anayeli, escúchame."
"Go away!"
"Tu está aqui, conmigo, con Abel. Está en su casa, Anayeli."
Anayeli stopped struggling in his grasp, beginning to cry. Her legs grew weak under her, and Abel slowly let her sit on the floor beneath them. Anayeli leaned against him, shaking with each sob.
"L-lo siento."
"Está bien, está bien..."
