AntMan and the Wasp
Yeah, this movie is fun. Again, I feel as I did with Infinity Wars do I really need to say to someone you should see this move? I mean the Marvel Cinematic Universe has as by the balls at this point, they have us trained like Pavlov’s Dogs. Not that I’m complaining every time Pavlov rings that bell, err I mean, whenever another Marvel movie comes out we get some delicious treats … I mean a good movie. So, go see AntMan and the Wasp.
The general point of AntMan is that this is Marvels chance to share some of the cool super powers that aren’t as big as a suit of armor, turning green and getting really strong, being a Norse god or super drugs. Kind of like how Guardians of the Galaxy introduces the audience to some of the weirder mythos of the Marvel Universe. Instead of the cool powers already well know Antman and the Wasp shows the ability to phase through objects and turn invisible and reminds us how powerful and cool that truly is. It takes the ability to change your size from really small to very big and makes that concept super fun. My personal favorites powers in this movie are controlling ants and making anything super small or super big.
Ghost, the villain, is perhaps the most shocking change to the Marvel formula, and even changes the idea of most modern superhero movies. Some minor spoilers ahead if you don’t want to be spoiled don’t read on.
See Ghost is one of the few, if not among the first, main villains of a superhero movie to not be killed in the end. Just consider that, except for Loki, if you are the main villain of a superhero movie you are going to be killed.
Even Loki though doesn’t get that much of a pass. Consider that in both Thor and Thor 2 Loki “dies” and in Thor 3 Loki isn’t the main villain. Meaning the only one Loki lives at the end is in Avengers. The reason ghost gets away with not being killed to be defeated is because ghost doesn’t need to be killed to be defeated. She is the first villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe who has a motive that isn’t kill a lot of people and be responsible for the deaths of many. Ghost is looking for maybe the death of one, maybe, to save her own life. She only has the goal of keep herself alive, and if it weren’t for misunderstandings or even her way of going about accomplishing her goal she may not even have been an antagonist.
