We know that Victoria and Hannah were friends, so when Matty first arrived back in Emmerdale looking for his birth certificate, it wasn’t surprising that they had a catch up. It was also a way for the writers to condense the years away into a few minutes without all the angst that we got with the initial Moira / Matty scenes. During the catch up, Vic asked Matty if Hannah had ever fancied her. Matty said ‘No’ and Vic called him rude.
Fast forward a few weeks and we see Vic looking at Matty differently. Well, he’s not Hannah anymore. Matty, I feel at present, sees Vic in the same way Hannah did - a friend. It’ll take him a bit longer. but it’s not surprising he’s a bit blind to Vic.
Personally, I think I’d like to see them as mates for a bit longer. Them dating would be easy for Matty as Vic already knows he’s trans, but it’s also a bit of a cop out. Like he’s settling for someone safe that he gets on with really well, but doesn’t have a deep romantic love for. At present I can’t see them as an Aaron & Robert or a Vanessa & Charity. They may become that, but I think that would be years down the line.
