to all the weirdos who developed a weird parasocial psychosexual fetishization of dan and phil's relationship as children, adolescents, or adults (adults ?!), i am certain you are happy today.
again, to the weirdos, i think the prospect of "shipping" real people is absolutely nuts, but it is not an uncommon parasocial experience. i mean, popculture is fueled on the juicy details of -not even just relationships, bu- relationship SPECULATING.
overall, be normal! consider that they are open enough to be themselves in front of an audience, which likely played a part in being quiet about things due to the obnoxious interest in their personal lives beyond their online personas. youtubers was actually the start of the influencer pipeline; they were different than celebrities bc they were purely becoming popular through doing things/influencing online, and they turned into celebrities under the public eye. so, even though you are happy and giddy about this information, try to be normal and respectful. don't be like "pot? meet kettle." YEAH, WE GET IT. don't be blunt and rude like, "we know." genuinely rarely watched them, but i thought they WERE a couple when I was like 12 or 13. I was like, oh that youtube gay couple (and then I was promptly told they weren't actually a couple, people just "phantasized" about it.
first comment in my screenshot on Instagram is my thoughts exactly. This was in the comment section of their instagram post about their relationship (which was very lighthearted and funny, honestly, but as you know ppl are insane). good for them and, everyone, be normal. TUMBLR, HOWEVER, COMING IN W/ THE DIABOLICAL COMMENT BRO 😭😭😭
That's all I have to say: be normal and respectful and supportive about this!
