Now, this is funny, and relatable.
First, it's totally fine Tom take a break, we need to rest, hydrate, vent, get out mind somewhere else for a while and eventually take a walk or do some exercises, it all helps
What I'm worried about is ... When "this" happens too much.
What I mean is that I've seen how hundreds, thousands, of parents just leave their children on the phone, it's easy to do that, there's little interaction, it's hard to communicate to develop empathy or to lean how to get along together, there's a limit to everything and to see 4 years olds growing up woth the phone basically glued to them is worrisome and heartbreaking because you see when they are suffering and how much if yoi pay attention but most don't even realoze what is happening or how their kids really feel. Online there's a lot, a lot of cuber Bullying as if it's normalized to behave a certain way. On the other side there's a lot of info, a lot of support and a lot of actually nice people who share kindness and support. But the problem is we can't just drop the kids there to grow up by themselves, we need to check if they are alright, we need to teach them other ways to entertain and have fun, we need to listen, to observe, not just let them on the phone because it's easy and be quite egoistic when one just doesn't want to bother playing with their kids even when they have the tie and energy,. it's certainly different when a parent is exhausted from work or has even health issues but even so look at those parents that have illness three jobs and are lonely but still do their best to make their kids not feel alone, they manage to find the strength to check if their kids are alright, or if the neighbor's kid is alright, because sometimes it's not the parents but another figure that helps us a lot,and no matter how tired, they wouldn't, couldn't, go get s nap ignoring the kid that is hurting inside, and I mean really, really hurting.
It's also a responsibility to guide them, not to force them "the way we want them to be" because we are all people, kids included, and we can make different choices, but to guide and support others, to teach and try to raise them in a way that they know how to be kind and strong, how to not abandon themselves to the pain or hate, either self hatred or destructive towards others. To grow up feeling sadness or pain is inevitable but we can't just keep dropping the weight of the world and of growing up, of dealing with humanity, with life, all of it on them
We need to be more present, more attentive, more open and thoughtful, we can't keep being ignorant and turn the other way when something is wrong, bullying or depression are an example of stuff that is not taken as seriously as it should, so please, be kind, educate, pay attention, do something different, be present at least a bit.
It's not staying on the phone that is the core of the problem, which is where you can do a lot of different things, read, play, chat, interact, find information about all kinds of topics an adult often avoids when it should be discussed, but to do only that day and night and not be able to do anything else is not alright, it's just draining, damaging, breaking young people who grow up
