You're a film and TV major???? Oh my god that's so amazing where do you go and what was your application process? (If you don't mind answering I'm applying in the fall and I'm looking for as much advice as possible)

I’m a freshman at Boston University which has a very very very good film and tv program BUT it isn’t a BFA program meaning that you have to take a good amount of general requirement courses (like 1 math class and 1 science class and 4 english classes etc etc). 

Most people would say NYU has the best film program in the US and I think that’s probably true but NYU is hella expensive and stingy w/ financial aid so I didn’t bother applying there. If you can afford it definitely check them out, though I do know some people who don’t dig the NYU environment. 

California also has some really good schools for film tv such as USC and UCLA but also, hella expensive. 

Another Boston school with a very good film tv program is Emerson. I know some people that go there and really like it. 

I chose BU because I didn’t want to go to ~just a film tv school, I wanted to take classes outside my major like graphic design/gender studies/american sign language. Their financial aid isn’t ~perfect but better than Cali schools and NYU. The application process was relatively easy, I applied early decision which increases your chances of getting in by a looooot. Also for BU film and tv you don’t have to have any experience with film/tv while applying.
