The United States has lifted the $10 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Sirajuddin Haqqani, the acting Interior Minister of Afghanistan and a key figure in the Taliban's Haqqani network. This decision also includes the removal of $5 million bounties on Abdul Aziz Haqqani and Yahya Haqqani, both significant members of the same network.
The move comes after the Taliban released U.S. citizen George Glezmann, who had been detained for over two years. The removal of these bounties follows the release of Glezmann, indicating a possible negotiation between the U.S. and the Taliban.
Despite the Taliban's announcement, the FBI's website still lists Sirajuddin Haqqani as wanted, suggesting a possible discrepancy or delay in updating official records. The U.S. State Department has not yet commented on the change in the reward status.
