“So then we’d have to go through the Mayan Ruins of Chichen Itza in order to find the hidden temple,” Nessa whispered as she casually leaned into Lucian. “Mum said it’d be best to go at sunset and it might take us a bit...so we could head out now?”

Vanessa H. Maldette + Lucian R. Tremaine III | The Lana Del Rey Series (Born To Die - Revisited) | National Anthem
National Anthem is the story of a young woman who falls for an ambitious and powerful male as they both rise to the top. They’re surrounded by political influence, power, and wealth, battling the temptations of excessive partying and the darker side of royalty. Sound familiar? This song tells the story of a girl who fell for a boy who seemed to be way out of her league. He had influence and power, and an established future. She was young, bright-eyed and new to the world. She fell for his darkness and he fell for her light. With a blink of an eye, they grew up to be as equally powerful as the other. Like fireworks, their love was loud, it burned bright, and it never lost its spark. Through the blood red passion, the white purity of their love, and the blue hues of his eyes; it was a love beyond the superficiality of materials and power. That was when they knew that together, they’d be unstoppable and that was when they knew...that they couldn’t live without the other.

Vanessa had spent the day thinking about what she had drunkenly told Lilly a few nights ago. By the time she was at home, laying on his lap, surrounded by his warmth and his comfort, all she could do was sigh. What was she afraid of, anyways? Why was she afraid in the first place? Slowly, Nessa turned over to look up at Lucian, studying his features first. His calm demeanor, his tired but relaxed smile, how concentrated and blue his eyes are. It was a few moments that she studied his features, everything that drew her in.
“Lucian,” She finally breathed out. “Am I—“ she paused for a moment, slowly sitting up, resting her hands on his, biting her lip. “Are you—“ she paused again and sighed. She was truly unsure of how to word herself and it made her a bit flustered as she grunted at herself. “Are you happy? Not like, content with life or anything, but happy. With us? With how we’re going?—“ her voice tapered off and all she had to do was stare at him. Their eye contact could tell a thousand more languages than their own words at times.
