His wings are too small! They just can’t carry the weight of a full human for very long (along with that fat ass? pretty tough job for those wings might I say)

He can do a feather fall kinda thing! like chickens do? he’s never tested it before though (i’m drawing when he finds out lmao)

also I personally headcannon (? he doesn’t have wings in cannon so) that he kept his wings under his jacket during the Schlatt administration :P
