Thank you for sticking around, happy 2 years to this blog, and happy new year to everyone!
.
This is my favorite interview of his. He talks about all his bands, and his journey in life as a musician, a father and a recovering DA.
- being the younger son and having a ten year gap from his three brothers.
- Learning about drugs on D.A.R.E. and finding them at home.
- Saosin and moving to California after leaving rehab. Leaving the band because he didn’t understand they were giving him time to figure himself out.
- Starting Circa and all the years he exhausted his relationship with the band members, to the point that it wasn’t possible to be band anymore. Right now he just wants to be their friend.
- L.S. Dunes coming at a time he really needed it, they were new to his struggles and being accepting of him while making sure he knew he wasn’t fooling them. “When you are ready to tell the truth we will be here”.
- Going to the Carousel tour with Tim Kasher and Laura Jane Grace, collapsing while out with Laura.
- Being sober for 4 years, and taking care of his mental health.
- Stopped smoking for his kids and now vaping a lot more than he ever smoked. He promised he would stop now that he caught his kids vaping as well. He smokes on airplanes.
- Audience of One talking about recording again.
- L.S. Dunes being a band that has a lot of busy members and he is happy to sing with them whenever is possible.
- TSOAF and their recording history, from back when he was still in Saosin sneaking around, to a project that they do because they want to have fun.
- Food, Philly, eggs and eating habits.
- Being Timothée Chalamet fans.
- Vocal techniques, he sings everyday and doesn’t do warm ups.
I love these brackets
this sick world where you know, racism and sexism, you know, queer hate is just fine. It's disgusting. But here we are and it's all a product of what we've let slip, what we've accepted, who we've revered as a culture, what we've aggrandized and what we've elevated and I don't try to write political lyrics or sociopolitical lyrics, I just express myself but in this uncanny, abysmal world that we live in it can't help but impart some of those themes. Human rights shouldn't be politics and that's why I'm not talking about politics, I'm talking about we are human beings, what the fuck. How about don't kill anybody? How about fuck religion, don't kill anybody, stop harming animals, you guys, what the fuck, I mean really though, like think about it, they're innocent, you know, you wouldn't do it yourself and you wouldn't do it to your dogs or your cats, you know, so it's that kind of thing that like twists my mind and we're living in a world where that is you know, the norm, and it's extending to human beings.
