HARDWARE: Shipbreakers is being developed by Blackbird Interactive, a company made up of former Homeworld developers. This fact becomes obvious when watching the above video, which not only features Homeworld-esque title font, but more or less the same visual style, similar thematic elements, music by Paul Ruskay, engine trails on the aircraft, and even that familiar deep 'Mwoo' sound when zooming out.
Details on the game itself are sparse, although it's apparently going to be aiming for an eventual planet-scale maybe persistent-world real-time metagame, or something. Like I said, details are sparse.
WTF JUST FOUND OUT FIVE MINUTES AGO: So apparently Gearbox had no idea what they were going to do with the Homeworld IP after they acquired it, so now they're giving it to Blackbird. Guess what this means.
HARDWARE: Shipbreakers is now being re-titled.
HOMEWORLD: Shipbreakers is the newest title in the revered Homeworld franchise. Where this game fits in with the rest of the Homeworld story is still unclear, although I'd presume that this is going to be a sort of prequel. Is it going to be any good? Who knows?
